Are registries done for engagement parties? (edited)

TIA for your (always) helpful responses ...

If registeries are done, do you include information about the regisitry with the invitation to the e-party? I know it's not proper etiquette to include with the wedding invitation, but does that apply to the e-party invite as well?

We just had our eparty and we registered for some things. We got almost everything off the registry. Most of our guests were happy that we registered, becuase it helped them out.

Our party is July 3rd, and we are not registering.

Our wedding is over 1.5 years away, we both currently live with our parents, and we need to figure out living arrangements for after the wedding. We're probably just going to get an apartment for a little while.

My family gives cash gifts for e-parties, and his family NEVER EVER had an e-party... this should be interesting!

I wouldn't include it on the invite - word of mouth does the trick! Everybody has asked us if we're registered anywhere.

We didn't register and our eparty is June 18th. We are getting married Sept 2006, so I thought it was too far away to register. I have no idea what I want/need. Plus we live in a tiny apartment, so I would have no where to put all my gifts! (we invited 170 to our eparty and so far 125 are coming)

We are going to register in Sept as our e-party is in Nov. It is not necesarry to register however I have had a lot of family and friends asking me if we did register as they wanted to buy us gifts. I figure we have to do it anyway and some ppl may buy us these items for Xmas!!

We registered because people kept asking us. It worked out well because almost everything we got was from the registry.

we registered for our e-party but did not put the info on the invitation...etiquite wise it is not required that people give a gift for an e-party... you are realyl supposed to send out the registry info with the shower invite only... word of mouth will spread about where you are registered...
