Are scissors bad luck at a shower?

I know it's bad luck for the bride to use them while opening gifts, but is it bad luck for them to be used by the BP while making the bow hat?

Supposedly no scissors at all

I have never heard this before, interesting. What's the rationale behind no scissors?

I have never heard of this either and scissors were on the 'must bring' list for every shower I helped plan. I don't think you will need them to open your gifts but the person making you the hat may find them helpful. I guess this really depends on how superstitious you are.

Scissors or knives should never be given as a wedding gift as this is believed to lead to a broken marriage.

I've never heard anything about other people at the bridal shower not being able to use them

My mom is the most superstitious person I know and she didn't stay anything about scissors at a bridal shower.
If you receive knives as a gift, you are supposed to give the giver a penny a point. This is so you don't sever the relationship.

The bride cannot use the scissors at any point, however, others are allowed. Also, scissors or knives can be given as gifts, as long as the receiver gives something back to the gifter (even a penny will do).
