ETA:: They are not the same place, I was mistaken. They are across the street from each other. I still have concerns that they work closely together though and I supposedly have to use one or the other for my reception hall and if they work together I am going to get screwed on prices obviously.

As far as I know, they are two different florists. If I remember correctly, their offices/showrooms are across the street from each other in Cedarhurst.

Definitely different. I went to Stefan when I was looking for a florist. Spitz and Peck are across the street.
ETA: They do not work together but are often both house florists for many LI venues. My family has used them (Stefan) for many functions.

ahh-OK my bad, they are on the same street but have different address numbers. I still think they must work together on prices somehow though.....anybody have opinions on either since I obviously have to use one....which one is cheaper?

they are separate, but have showrooms in cedarhurst right next to each other.
FYI - I REALLY wasn't crazy about Stefans. FM me if you want details.
Re: Are Spitz and Peck and Stefans the same place?
I have seen both of their work and they do a great job!
You do not HAVE to do anything. The catering hall can recommend you vendors, but cannot force you to use anyone. The only thing outside vendors need is $1 million insurance policy, which any reputable vendor has.

I am also getting married at the Royalton and had to choose between the two. I chose Stefans. For me, they were more accomodating and more inexpensive.

Actually I do HAVE to use one of the two because it is written into the contract, unfortunately. It didnt bother me at first because I was so in love with the reception hall. But now that Im realizing I can probably get so much more for less somewhere else it is bothering me. Glad to hear you think they both do a good job though. That is reassuring.

Tara you know my feelings on this situation... In my opinion , they HAVE to have something to do with each other, owner wise... It's weird that they are always house vendors together and never separate.

Me too. I think we may try to use a different florist for everything but the centerpieces, to cut costs. But we aren't sure yet.

They are located across the street from one another and are not the same store. I am sending you an FM.

Re: Are Spitz and Peck and Stefans the same place?
I am married already but registered on this site to voice my opinion on Spitz & Peck (note that this is only my opinion, based on my experience). S&P were, without question, the absolute *worst* vendor we encountered during our wedding. We were married at the Water's Edge and, unfortunately, they were a required vendor. It started with our very poor first impression during our meeting with Richie in the Huntington location. None of his ideas were original and he seemed to only want to have us sign the contract and leave. Do note that we did not go in there indicating that we had a small budget. We were certainly willing to spend the money to receive worthwhile flowersAND service -- we received neither of those.
Not only did we have terrible experiences with them in the three months leading up to the wedding (such as un-returned phone calls, errors on the bill [favoring them, of course], missed meetings, etc., etc.) but they completely screwed up on the day of our wedding -- incorrect flowers, missing flowers that we had paid for, late in arrival at the ceremony location, late at the reception location, etc. Richie, in the days before paying our final balance, outright lied about having agreed to provide something which was very clearly listed in our contract. Richie then produced 'his' copy of the contract where that item had been crossed-off and indicated to me that I had an 'incorrect' contract. This, to me, is unethical business.
They completely forgot to send flowers for my hair, which I had paid for, sent the wrong flowers for my mother and MIL and my bouquet was horrific. I requested yellow calla lillies and they delivered a five inch long 'bouquet' with five calla lillies total. My bridesmaids had larger bouquets than I did!!!
All in all, my wedding was beautiful and the flowers are but one small piece of a much larger pie. What REALLY burned me is that I felt completely and utterly ripped-off. Really, completely had by these unethical business people. I complained to my events manager at the Water's Edge and also directly to the owner. Hopefully, they have ceased to recommend S&P as florists. Even they could not deny that the flowers for my wedding looked sorry and horrible (wilted and browning on the edges BEFORE we even arrived at the reception)!!
So -- I wish all of you the best of luck and just consider this a huge word of caution.
