Are sugar pasted flowers cheesy?

Are sugar pasted flowers cheesy?

Hi.

I really love the look of flowers cascading on the wedding cake. I was pretty set on doing this.

I happened to be looking in a bridal mag and I saw a beautiful cake with sugar pasted flowers,

What are your thoughts?

It's not my thing, but I don't think it's cheesey at all.

I am not having flowers, butr we are having sugar (rock-candy-like) snowflakes on our cake. I think it is a nice touch. Definately not cheesy, as long as it doesn't overwhelm the design of your cake!

It's not cheesy at all, but I do think it's much more expensive than fresh flowers.

Also, be careful of what baker you use. Make sure they are reputable and are used to doing gumpaste. My brother and sister-in-law had an extravagant and beautiful cake covered in gumpaste flowers, and the entire cake was spoiled through and through because it was left out so long while the cake artist decorated it! It literally must have been out for 2 weeks! They had a lot of flowers on it, so if it's just a few I doubt you'd have to worry about this.

They had to use a dummy sheet cake at the hall, and they sent them home with the gum paste flowers in a box, but no top layer of the cake...yick!

I am not a fan of the sugar flower cake type of thing or whatever it is you are talking about. Its too sugary for me. I actually just don't like the way it tastes. But that is me. If I am at a b-day party and the cake has those, I don't ask for it b/c I won't eat it.

I think they are beautiful also, and it gives you a lot of choices in decorating because it is a flexible substance to work with
