Hey ladies, I can really use the advice. So I had braces all through middle school and go them off in high school. My teeth have since shifted and now I hate my bottom teeth. One tooth jets out a little more than the others. Anway, I got a quote at the orthodontist and I can get braces or invisilign. Braces would be clear but I heard they stain. Also I would need top ones for 4 months and bottoms for 9.
On the other hand Invisilign is about 2000 dollars more but then I don't have to wear braces (over the summer no less). Is this kind of expense really worth it when I have the wedding to pay for? What do you ladies think?

I did have the clear braces in high school and my teeth didnt get stained! I know that I could not have clear on the bottom though had the metal because they said they could crack. This was 2002 so it may be different HTH!

I was told the actual clear part of the braces could get stained if I had any red sauce, red wine, coffee.. at this point what would I be able to eat..lol

I was considering getting invisalign because my bottom teeth shifted and there are two small gaps in my top teeth that the braces didnt fix. I decided against doing anything because I read that for invislalign, they add little tooth colored buttons on your teeth so it can snap on. I didn't want to have the buttons on my teeth leading up to the wedding because of engagement pictures and stuff. I'm thinking about asking my photographer to do some light editing in the pictures where you can see the gaps in my teeth.
I don't know if everyone getting invisalign needs the buttons so I would definitely check with an orthodontist.

I dealt with it! I used to eat ice-cream and flip the spoon in my mouth! I was too young for wine and coffee through a straw would work!

Have you considered veneers? My brother got them recently since his teeth shifted after having braces. It only took one appointment, was painless, and his teeth look AMAZING. They don't look anything like Tom Cruise's teeth!

I have a friend who got Invisalign before her wedding and her teeth looked great. But right after the wedding she stopped wearing them and her teeth went right back.
I used to have braces and my bottom teeth are still a mess (well, one of them juts inward). I'm the only one who notices it, and although it used to bother me, I've come to like it. I even joke that if I was murdered, they'd be able to identify me by my teeth. Lol
If straight teeth is important to you, I say to do the Invisalign bc even though it's more expensive, it's less worrisome to me. But otherwise, your FH fell in love with you, teeth and all, exactly as you are now.

I think its totally worth it!! my orthodontist is amazing. I am OBSESSED with my teeth and need straight teeth however- my teeth are horrors and love to move! I had braces 3 times (the 2nd two times were only for 6 week stints just to shape them up) however, after the 3rd time, I decided to get the permanent retainers put on and they have not moved since!!! :) I think it is well worth it!!!!! if you need a good orthodontist FM me- mine is awesome!!!

I am currently wearing invisalign and LOVE them. I never had braces when I was little, so I have to wear them for a full course of treatmnt (about 2 years). I'm almost done! They didn't hurt at all. In regard to the buttons, not everyone needs them. It depends on the movement that certain teeth need to make. You can barely see them. The price difference for me between invislign and regular braces was $1k, but my orthodontist gave me a deal. Even if he didn't I would have went with invisalign. 2 years is a long time to wear metal. I'm not sure if I would put the extra $ in for a few months, but FM me if you have any questions!

I work in an orthodontic office so I see adults all the time getting clear braces or Invisalign.. If I were you I would do the clear braces.. Save the $2000 for something towards the wedding. The clear brace itself doesn't stain.. It's the little clear elastics they put on the brace that gets stained from coffee, red wine, sauce. But if u brush really well after u eat or drink it won't stain right away

Here is the question though, if I get invisilign or braces for that matter do I have to wear a retainer or a mouth piece at night for the rest of my life. I don't know if I can make that kind of commitment and if I can't is it even worth it. For some reason this situation is totally plaguing me and I have problems deciding what I want to eat let alone what I am going to have to commit to physically and financially!

you should try the permanent retainers- thats why I got it- i just couldn't remember to wear a retainer all the time. I also had the clear ones at one point and they didn't leave a stain. FH had the invisalign in high school- one thing I must say that he HATED about them is he always felt like he had bad breath so he was constantly washing them and stuff- it could have just been him but it was just a thought!!!
I totally think its worth it!! :) and even if you go the clear braces route and not the invisalign, it's not that long in the grand scheme of things!

if u dont think you will wear you retainers at night then i wouldnt waste your time..why spend a lot of money to straighten them to only have them move back again? i got my braces off 6 years ago and wear my retainers every single night because im a teeth nut..its just routine for me now, wash face, brush teeth, put in retainers- in my office you can finish treatment and either do a small metal retainer or clear retainers and they will hold your teeth straight as long as you wear them..they are both comfortable. They will do a 'permanent' retainer that gets glued to the back of your teeth, however you have to be careful what you bite into because it can still break. hope this helps. if u have any other questions let me know!

I tried to do invisalign but I couldn't finish the treatment. They were okay in the beginning but you can't eat with them on, you have to take them out, which is a pain. Then you always have to brush before you put them back on so food doesn't get stuck. You then have to push on new trays every 2 weeks and at some points it hurt so bad doing it myself that I just didn't want to. I then went and got the clear braces put on and it was 1000xs easier. They still hurt but at least it was the orthodontist who was hurting me and I had no control over it! I got them off recently and there is a little stain but it's not bad so I'm going to get my teeth whitened pretty soon. I have a retainer I wear at night. IMO, invisalign is not worth the extra money!
