not a BM bride but i was at a wedding there if you want to take a look at some pictures they are in my album as Marie Elenas Wedding

I almost went with Bourne. I love it there and more importantly I love the Lessings. They have been catering my family's events for years. They did all my graduation parties and my MOHs (exchange student who lived with us for years). They did my e-party. Everything they do is incredible.

If it wasn't for the fact that I wanted a place with a more 'on the water' feel I would have gotten married there. Bourne is on the water, but Lands End is on the bay.

I am an 08'er crashing...

We had our reception at the Bourne on -8/23/08.

I have to say it was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. Steve was our MD and he just blew us and all of our guests away.

SFBride2Be its great to hear that things were so good at the Bourne. Do you have any menu suggestions, any cocktail hour choices or entrees that were a big hit?

Let me just say this though - Ben and Steve are both amazing and will do whatever they can to make everything perfect and exactly how you want it - so just speak up and ask for alterations etc - they are very accomodating. Our guests were blown away by the food!

We also did the V hour which was awesome! SO many desserts and after dinner drinks it was awesome - and they put all of these candles out - it was beautiful, just completely changed the space. I loved it!

I got married at Bourne last August also...we added the BBQ station to our cocktail hr and it was a huge hit. As SFBride mentioned, the sliders and scallops wrapped in bacon were great too...and everyone loved the gorgonzola crusted filet.

Thanks for the food recommendations ladies we'll keep that in mind for when we make the menu. You both looked beautiful in your gowns!Did you both use the lighting package? I felt the ballroom was a little dark when I went to see the venue...do you feel the lighting is needed, or can I get away with candles?

I looked at their lighting package but they had just gotten it working and it wasn't exactly what i was looking for.

I ended up going with another lighting company that came in and put poles up so that we could do pinspot lighting on the tables -since the Bourne's package doesn't allow for that.

I think you should check out what they have before paying for it to make sure it is exactly what you want. We found a pretty reasonable vendor for lighting - FM me if you want the info!!!

I loooooved Bourne from pictures, but it's simply too far away from us (we live in Queens, most of our family/friends live no further east than Hicksville). Hope you have a great day

Congrats!

I'm having my reception at the Bourne on October 3rd '09. Went back this weekend to see it again since I haven't been since we booked. Fell in love with the space all over again.

I'm contemplating the lighting package too. Have you picked a florist?
