what a wonderful question! I bet you will not find any!

I have 3 clients who are brokerage firms and I always have the '80/20' conversation with them because NONE have ANY female stockbrokers.

One guy even said, 'If ANY female applies to be a stock broker, I will hire IMMEDIATELY. I have been in this business for over 20 years and have never worked with a female stockbroker...there just aren't any'

Wow...I wonder why that is. Well, I assume that the nature of the field is predominantly men- but didn't think it was that bad. I got a call today if a firm and they want to interview me tomorrow. Not sure if I'm wasting my time though. I applied to pharmacy school and have yet to hear- so I'm getting paranoid- what if I don't get it. I don't have a bad job, and if I can get accepted in a phram program- I'd be all set and could stay where I work. I just want to see what's out there. What do you think Sue? Do your clients like what they do?

what's the difference between a stockbroker and a trader? Is a broker like a salesman?

my goodness...my brokers/traders are CRAZY! I guess they're under a lot of stress. They're not mean or nasty, but they are ALWAYS in a frenzy, and running around like total lunatics, lol!

My husband is a trader. Stockbroker is kind of used as common term to describe equity traders, sales traders, stockbrokers, investment bankers and floor brokers. Depends on what the job is for. I find a lot of firms that bring in young people are more of sales trader position. And if you got the sales gene in you - you can really make it far. My husband has a number of young sales traders who are woman but it is a tough job and usually you have to be really good or really attractive.

The whole atmosphere is a crazy one.....not only does my husband usually work crazy ( he sometimes has to hang up on me at work) he also has to go out and entertain clients at least 2 times a week and at least another night a week to network within the business. Its tough and most of the people who my husband works with work their arse off. However most of them are like out of the business and younger then 40. You make crazy money but be prepared to do something after 40. Very few personalities can handle the stress, pressure and craziness of the business. A LOT of them go into the client side of the business.....networking is everything in that business.

GOOD LUCK

I work at an investment banking firm and I am slowly learning about the business. I am in the back office, and I really don't think I would want to be a broker/trader/whatever!
It's a lot of stress and you have to be a pain in the arse!!

But its SO MUCH BETTEr working w/guys than women...I came from a fashion design background, and this is way way wya way better!!
