Are there any vineyard brides out there??

Hey! I am getting married at Vineyard Caterers on November 3rd of this year! We are using Spin Around Sound as our DJ, Bayport Flower Houses as Florist and Imagine Studios for Photography. We are also using Empire State Limos. We are going with the whole 'Vineyard' Theme. We are having high centerpieces with autumn colored roses and berries with grape vines covering the base. A wreath of grapes will be on the table surrounding the centerpiece. We are also having the catering hall use the cake design out of the Martha Stewart book with the grapes as decorations. What ideas are you using?

I am not getting married until 6.22.02, so I do not have much planned yet. I am meeting with a bunch of people in two weeks. I live in Maryland so it is hard to plan! Could I have the phone number of your florist? We are still discussing going with the vineyard theme for everything. I want candles to be the main part of the centerpeice, but Brian (FH) is really digging the grape thing. We are seriously considering the Martha Stewart grape cake. I would love to see a picture of your centerpeices after your wedding. You must be so excited, your wedding is getting close. What are you doing for favors?

My brother got married there 2 years ago and they did the whole grape theme too. Their cake was 3 or 4 square tiers, in white, with green and purple grapes cascading down the sides. Very simple and looked great! Their favors were wine toppers with a bunch of grapes on top. They were wrapped in small boxes w/ brown paper and topped w/ rafia ribbon and a small bunch of either green or purple grapes. They looked so nice on the tables. They had a lot of other cute ideas which made everything so nice. I want to pick a theme for my wedding which is at Villa Lombardis but I can't seem to come up with one I really like.

Our Florist's number (Bayport Floral House) is 631-472-0014 or 800-729-0822. They are the house florist for Vineyard Caterers. We have been speaking with Gisbert Auwaerter b/c is a neighbor and friend of my FI's parents. We are not going all-out on favors b/c they can get VERY expensive. We got matchbooks made up for the bar and for the tables. We were going to do wine but that can cost upwards of $900 - $1000 b/c our guest list grew. I am very crafty so I will probably find a sale at AC Moore or Michaels and make something. I did special candles for my friend's baby shower and everyone loved them.

Thanks for the tips Jenny. I really like the idea of a wine topper. I would also love to know where your brother got them. What kind of theme? Like for the center peices and favors, or for the whole wedding?

Actually he got the wine toppers for a $1 at a home store that was going out of business. I have seen them around now for about $3-4 so they got a good deal. The invitations were cute too. They were not your traditional wedding invitations. They had flowers and opened into a garden gate with vinery and grapes all over. She tied ribbon on them so they had a bow to open. It's hard to explain but they were nice. I think they got them at Noteworthy. For the centerpieces she had topiarys. They were actually two pots of ivy, one on the bottom one on the top with different flowers in them. Then there was a decorated poll that held them together. It was nice b/c at the end one person took home the top ivy and one took home the bottom and the florist picked up the poll stand. They didn't go crazy w/ the grape theme but it was nicely done. Hope that helps!
