To me they're just 'extras', I'm not getting special matchboxes or napkins. They certainly aren't necessary but do make a nice personal touch.

Are they necessary??? Nope- Are they a nice added touch...depends..I think some things are really cute...some are just not my taste or not worth the money...

If you love it and have the extra $$$ go for it , if not no one is going to say ...she didnt have napkins or matches, her wedding was bad!

They're extras - definitely a personal decision whether to have them or not. By no means are they 'necessary'

I don't think so. I think matchboxes are great if you have the money for them. As for personalized napkins, I couldn't care much either way. Things like that are nice additions, but people will only notice if you do them, not if you leave them out.

They're extras and i think they're a waste of money. I don't think i've ever been to a wedding where they had them and if i have... then obviously i took no notice of it. I would skip them. People aren't going to remember whether or not you had personalized matches.

They are defenitiely 'extras' and not necessary. I am not having them. You can have them to add a special touch, but I think if I had the extra money I would add something that the guests would take more notice of and have more use for because the napkins just get used and thrown away.

Not necessary at all...I'm not even bothering

Not necessary any more. But I ended up ordering the stupid matchbooks on-line and 4:00 a.m. when I needed a wedding planning fix.

I don't think so.....personal opinion of the bride/groom, I guess.

Personally it reminds me of weddings in the 70's/80's (as a kid) along w/ stirrers

I completely agree. As a guest at many wedding I never notice this things, the only things I notice is
how the bride looks, if there is top shelf liquors, the music and the cocktail hour food (I have never thought the dinners at most weddings were very good)

But in the end its a matter of personal taste, I don't care much for them so I will not be doing them.

We're having personalized matches done b/c we're having a cigar roller come. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten them.

In the end, yes, they're extras and totally not necessary, and no one will notice.

Yes, if you have the extra money. I would spend the money somewhere else (photos, HM)

IMO, no. not necessary.

They are extras. I'm not doing them. People throw out the napkins and who cares if I'm remembered for years by being stored in someones cupboard on top of a candle. JMHO.
