Are they Jealous???

Are they Jealous???

This is more of a vent, than really anything else. When i told my close friends that I was getting engaged, I heard nothing but negative stuff about my engagement. Some Friends say I'm rushing it, one of my friends at work talked behind my back to another co worker about me, she gave her opinion on my relationship that she knows nothing of. Why can''t they be happy for me? Like I was happy for them and their engagements, weddings, baby announcements and any other big milestones in their lives. Why do I get the negative remarks, especially when in the past we spoke about this day for so long, they said that they would be more involved......But no one cares, they don't ask questions, they don't wanna get involved. They just don't care........I know i should be happy that I have my FH, but what about the close friends too, that I can share many memories with also, what happen to my BM, who will help me with the DIY invitations and other projects.....it's just really sad......There's way too much negativity!

Well I guess I'm different because I don't share personal details of my relationship with FH with anyone. My bm's aren't overly involved or seem super excited about me getting married, but they have their own lives too and stuff going on you have to remember. With your co-workers, maybe you should keep your relationship with them strictly work related that way they won't ever be able to make comments about anything. As long as you and FH are happy, that's all the matters.

I'm sorry that you are going through this! I don't know your friends personally of course but it certainly sounds like there is some sort of jealousy or ill-will. Any idea where it might be coming from?

It's a shame when people can't find it in themselves to be happy for others. That usually means that those individuals have some sort of discontent with their own lives.

You deserve to enjoy this and you will!!! Is there anyone who IS being supportive??

I learned a long time ago to not give a $hit what anyone thinks about me, my personal life, my decisions, etc. The only one who gets a say is me.

Shrug it off and move on ... some people are just ugly people and should have no bearing on you.

I know I deserve to enjoy this day, this moment. I have someone that is kind of supportive, but we weren't really close in the past few years. But I know things will be better.

I know what you mean-i was always quick to run to friends with FH & I fought or disagreed. If things were bad i was always fast to get another girls opinon. So when FH proposed i got a lot of 'are you sure' well if that's what you want etc. I now know to keep the things between him & i...between him & i. It's much better that way. And it's not that i'm hiding the bad things-WE ALL HAVE THEM. It's just i know a lot of women (Especially women) hold on to the negative things. From an outside perspective they might be thinking of anything bad you spoke of your FH and that's clouding their excitment. I just like to think of it as they're looking out for your best interest. But a good friend will put all that aside and just be happy for YOU beacuse YOUR happy. It's YOUR life; YOUR marriage-that's ALL that is important!

Well Said! I couldn't agree with you more. This is exactly the attitude I have since I got engaged!

Friends today... gone tomorrow. I wouldn't be too upset that people aren't getting involved, everyone has their own lives and their own things going on in their lives. So don't stress. Enjoy being engaged and everything else that comes with it. Your emotions may be at a high level right now... maybe you need some R&R with FH. Feel better and keep your head up!

Re: Are they Jealous???

I'm sorry you are being bogged down with negative vibes or remarks from others. Just remember this, NO ONE will be as excited about your engagement and wedding more than you and your FH. Sometimes people will get jealous, sometimes people will just not want to hear anymore about your wedding and relationship (brides do have the tendency to bring up their wedding often, I know I am guilty of this). Other people are just human and its not happening to them so its not as important. That doesn't mean that there aren't many people who are very happy and excited for you. Concentrate on the positive stuff and shrug off the negative stuff...its not worth the time analyzing.
