are we behind?

are we behind?

Ladies and occasional Gentlemen,

We've got a place and a caterer, and are almost set on our entertainment. But I still feel like we're really far behind. Our wedding is 10 months away and is on a busy day (sunday of labor day), and so many things, like possible party bus, blocked hotel rooms, flowers, photo/video, are nowhere near close. Are we behind schedule?

Also, unrelated question: we're trying to do some diy stuff in here; oneof the things my FW thinks is that a friend of hers will do her makeup and hair, and any other BP ladies will have to fend for themselves. I think she's beautiful the way she is, but is this something she's being unrealistic about?

I wouldn't panic, you have one of the most important things booked (the hall), but since you are getting married on a holiday weekend I would say you'd better start getting a move on. . . especially with such vendors as hotels for that weekend.

We got married on Labor Day of this year...we planned the wedding in about 6 months, and had virtually no problems securing the vendors we wanted. you are in good shape and have plenty of time

I hope not, we're hoping for next July or August and don't have a hall, yet!

You have the most important thing covered the hall. The things that I would get a move on would be the photo/video (they get booked fast) and the hotels. Then the other stuff can follow. I would tell your FW to start looking for her dress my dress took 8 months to get in.

About hair and make up...I don't think it's unrealistic to have a friend do it assuming that the friend knows what she is doing. I personally went with a professional b/c I was paying so much for photos that I wanted everything to be perfect. For hair I just asked my hair dresser if she would mind coming to me that day and she agreed and it was a lot cheaper. I also just let the BM fend for themselves and they did a great job.
