I think it's the Maitre D that gets the tip on the day of the wedding, but hopefully another bride can confirm that for me...

I know The Crescent expects $1200 the day of the wedding to divide among 4 people (the bridal attendant, maitre d' and 2 captains - whoever they are). That's in ADDITION to the 18% gratuity we're already paying!!!

Our RH told us that the tip to the Maitre D' was at our discretion. 18% gratuity in our final bill is included for the wait staff. We are not tipping the BM.

Michele - I dont think we need to tip the BM, just the Maitre D.

I didn't tip the BM. I tipped the Maitre 'D and that tip was split three ways.

We did not tip our BM either. I think we spoke to him maybe once after booking, anyways.

our BM and Maitre'd are the same guy, so he will be getting a tip. 3-5pp is what i hear the norm is. he told us that when he was at WM there was an automatic $500 tip for him, but i am not sure how much we will give. we'll see how much we have left! ~lacey

We tipped the Maitre'd but not our BM. But I will say our BM did check up on us about 3 or 4 times during the wedding day to make sure everything was okay.

that is such crap! I cannot believe how many halls tell people how much to tip! maybe if they were paid appropriately, they wouldn't have to tell you what to pay them.
IMO, a tip is optional and should NEVER be dictated!
to answer the original Q, we did not tip the BM, only the Maitre D - and we tipped her WELL! she was awesome.

Thanks ladies for all your responses.
When I was at my Hall finalizing my menu, my BM gave me an envelope to put my 'tip'in for my maitre'd. She had said, if I wanted to give a tip here is an envelope. Which I was going to do. I just was unsure if the BM expected a tip too. But, like was mentioned above, I hardly even seen my BM. But let me add, She is so SWEET.
