ARE YOU A HOME OWNER???

FH and I have been going to open houses recently..

We have 5 months left til wedding.... We are torn because we found one we LOVE!!

But feel all the $ we saved for the wedding will go towards the house... HOW ARE YOU DOING IT?? What are your opinions??

I bought my house 1 year ago. I wanted to buy before the wedding. I am fortunate that my parents are paying for the wedding because if they didnt I could have not afforded one. I purchased a ranch for $399,000, 6% interest, 5% down(which was required, the bank said you cannot purchase a home anymore without putting atleast 5% down), low taxes and I still pay $3100. per month.

we actually closed on our house 2 weeks ago..i lived with my parents for a while which really helped me save a lot, fh and I combined make pretty good salary, we used money we got at the engagement party, and the biggest help of all..my parents are paying for a lot of the wedding! thats the only reason we were able to buy! Don't stress it, take your time and save..i saved for 4-5 years!!! thats really what helps!

So if we are married in July and buy a house in August...chances are we wont be in til Octob anyways maybe...because thats how long it takes to close??

When do you need to put down the down payment??

when i bought my place i put 10% down when i signed the contract and the rest down at the closing.
