Thought I'd share this that came up while studying the other addictions for my substance abuse counseling final....
'Individuals tho are internet dependent spend an inordinate amount of time online engaged in social activities such as participating in chat rooms, newsgroups, and various bulletin boards....dependent individuals genearate new relationships on teh Internet, whereas nondependent individual use the Internet to maintain current relationships...'

now I always knew I sort of was but reading about it clinically made me stop and think!!! AHhhhh! and see I am back on instead of studying again.
