to get Bikini waxes/ Brazilian waxes during pregnancy? Or is it up there with sushi, brie, and vigorous exercises?

Hum. I am not sure. I get my eyebrows waxed still but that isn't the same thing, I guess.

Re: Are you allowed...
i got the complete lowdown yesterday- quite an earful! Here it is:
manicure, pedicure, facial, WAXING, massage, hair coloring, perms = fine
fish = one serving, once a week
coldcuts = nothing like salami, bologna, turkey roll, etc. can have roast beef, fresh roast turkey - pick reputable delis. no hot dogs
excersise = whatever you normally do. not time to start something new. same goes for lifting things
caffeine = one cup (small) is fine. stay away from anything more
alcohol/smoking = none
soft cheese = none. (doesn't apply to mozz, cottage, ricotta - those are fine)
sun = moderation. drinks lots of water. heightened risk of sunburn
sex = ok thru 34 weeks. (like anybody wants to do that anyway....)
travel = ok but walk around on long flights. no travel after 29 (?) I think weeks
sleeping positions = whatever is comfy!
CALCIUM CALCIUM CALCIUM
*I think that's all of it!

Thanks, Jenny!
I though hair coloring was a no-no, because youa re not suppose to smell the chemicals in the dye. It does smell pretty bed!

Re: Are you allowed...
My OB office had a different position on a few things, so it is best to check with your own dr. However, Jenny posted great guidelines. Here is where my dr. differed:
As long as you have no other complications, sex is supposed to be fine until your water breaks.
Hair coloring is OK only after the first trimester. There are no studies to prove it causes any harm, so they say after the first trimester to be cautious. That is when the major baby developments have already taken place.
Flying until one month before EDD is OK if you have no other problems.

Re: Are you allowed...
my doctor said that though maybe it wouldn't be best to WORK in a nail place, hair place without a mask (such high exposure) that the only risk really is that the smell will exacerbate your nausea. That's it though! So all the stuff you need to feel pretty you can still do!!! (although a glass of red wine and a cigarette used to make me feel pretty darn good!...... )
also:
cat litter = no dog cleanup = no problem (figures.....I told my doctor we should have discussed that before my husband joined us. she could have gotten me off the hook with dog poop for 7 months!!)

Re: Are you allowed...
Just wanted to bump - I re-read my notes and you ladies are right. Sex okay until signs of labor ( not telling hubby that....hope he's not snooping. I am going to tell him foot massages only....) and travel up to 34 weeks.
So it seems the info is pretty standard which is good to know.

Re: Are you allowed...
I had a bikini wax 4 days before my due date!! It was fine...just know that your skin is extra sensitive when you are pg so it does hurt more than usual. The wax didn't help that much - for my c-sec I still needed a bit of a shave near my pubic bone!!

Re: Are you allowed...
Camille & JennRenee ... I'm a rebel too!!
I'm a firm believer in moderation. And while I am NOT smoking (never did!) or drinking ... even though they say an occasional glass of wine is not bad ....
BUT ... I'll have a turkey sandwich if I want it, and I've had salami this month (SO CRAVING IT!) ... I know its fresh & wouldn't eat it under any circumstances if it wasn't. And what am I going to do for 9 months, never have a sandwich, no way. I have to live my life too. Its like when I was dieting .... If I deprive myself of this now, I'll feel worse, crave it more & ultimately go on an eating binge looking for something to satisfy me.
Besides ... like others have pointed out before, when our Mom's were pg with us, there were no limitations ... nothing was off limits & we turned out ok!
But that's just me!!

You go Christine!
Really, we all turned out fine and there wasn't that any rules back then...
For the record: No, i am not preggo! Just gathering information, doing a little research so I know what I will have to give up in life! It's alway good to be prepared!

Re: Are you allowed...
Whatnow - remember it's not a life sentence! Just a nine month one! (of course, best to maintain good habits for breast feeding and baby of course, like no smoking, moderate drinking, etc.) but you can eat tuna till the cows come home after you have the little bean - SLATHERED in blue cheese!!!

Re: Are you allowed...
Cat litter is a no-no? I change the kitty litter every day now. So I guess FH (or DH as he will be known by the time we have kids) will just have to grin and bear it and change the litter!? Wooo hooooo!
