Are you and FH writing your own vows?

Anyone writing their own vows? I would love to but i'm a very emotional person. I think I would cry through the whole thing like a baby.

i started getting ideas down and i am sure it won't be pretty but FH and i are pretty adamant about it...

we arent...although we are actually both pretty good writers...i am all about the traditional vows that have been said for years...something about them means more to me then reciting some mushy love poem....jmo.....

Nope, the traditional vows are very significant to us.

lol...I am sure it will be beautiful...there is just something about saying the same words that my grandparents, and parents and so forth said before us that is very significant to the whole ceremony for us....I dont want to change what the normal catholic ceremony is....

No way.. I could never get through them! I would start sobbing like a fool before I could get through the first sentence.. Besides, FH and I already know what we mean to each other and what our promises are so I personally rather stick to the tradition.

We are... I started writing some already...but FH will prolly wait till the morning of. LOL. I do't want this large long thing... just something short and sweet. lol

We are. I finished mine the other day. Although I may make some slight changes between now and the wedding.

Is there a way to recite your own vows and then repeat after the priest the traditional stuff? maybe too long?

No you can do that. That is what our pastor wanted us to do but we just want the ones we wrote, so you can def do a combo of both! HTH!

Traditional. FH doesn't think he is a good writer and so he said he would feel awkward reciting something in front of people that he wrote..he also doesn't want me to show him up

Seriously though- I also think there is significance in reciting what has been said by those who have gone before us. Its romantic.

We don't even get to have vows. But if I did, I think we would have just done traditional if we had a Catholic ceremony. I'm not one for public displays of emotion LOL.

we wrote our own

DH barely made it through his - it made for a very emotional ceremony and it is something i will never forget.....people still talk about it .....what he said to me was amazing - it was a beautiful and like i said i will never forget those words and that moment.....i cried when i read mine too - but no tears fell - dont worry about being too emotional - b/c if you are, its beautiful to see

we are having a traditional Jewish ceremony much of which is in hebrew so we will not be writing our own. I was thinking of maybe saying somthing at the reception to one another in addition to the MOH & MB speaches.
