I was trying to do everything myself, but I am tempted to see if a travel agent can really get any deals.

Re: Are you booking HM with Travel Agent?
I started doing everything myself so that when I sat with the TA I would be able to say this is where we want to stay and for how long. Turns out I got much better prices than he did (our HM was at least 2k cheaper than what the TA quoted and we stayed at better hotels). I got the airfare and car rental through cheap tickets gold and the hotels I contacted directly and got quotes. It takes a lot of time to do it all but for us it paid in the end.

Actually, the TA prices were a little cheaper than Expedia! Expedia looks cheaper at first, but when we put in direct flights, travel insurance, etc. it was cheaper to go with a TA, plus then they do all the work for you.

things seem cheaper doing them your self but like the other post said if you want direct flight, insurance, and transportation from the airort to the hotel it all adds up. we went with a TA.

We are using a TA too. We decided we want to be sure everything is right and that we have insurace just incase. Looks like it's going to be about the same price anyway. After you know what you want you can try calling or e-mailing a couple of TAs for quotes.

We used AAA...if you are a member you can use their travel agents and we saved money and it was easier

Re: Are you booking HM with Travel Agent?
i used a TA. i'm going to Hawaii and with all the interisland flights, rental cars, etc it was too much work to book it myself. i'd rather have someone else go through all those details and research the deals. if we were just staying in one hotel, i may have done it myself.

Our TA got us a quote much lower than the resort gave us directly, and coordinated our honeymoon perfectly (better than we could have on our own), and we were able to create a honeymoon registry for our guests!!

You really should use a travel agent. It's a good thing we had one, considering that Hurricane Wilma ruined our plans, and we had to relocate. Without ours, we never would have gotten a decent rate on airfare for our new honeymoon. Also, she checked at one point, and one of our old flights was overbooked...we might not have gotten on. There's a lot about travel that needs to be left up to the experts.

I hear that TA's can get you upgrades. We haven't decided yet though. I may do a search 1st and then check TA's rates. See who can get the lower $.

Re: Are you booking HM with Travel Agent?
Yes I so would.. PERFECT EXAMPLE: my husband too me to the Riu Palace in Mexico they were trying to stick us in a room with 2 double beds.. My husband is not a small man.. Anyway, we called our travel agent and they got us out of this mess. The Rui and Dreams in Cabo I believe are sister companys and they are known for trying to put you in in with 2 double beds.. to some it may not bother but to me, that was not going to happen. We sleep in a king at home. Therefore we were not going to be ina double on our vacation. Thats why I would never go anywhere w/o my travel agent. She was our ticket out of any problem and problems are known to occur whether its small or large but I am not atking any chances being 1000's of miles away and out of the country.
