are you creative?

are you creative?

The towel cake thread got me thinking.

I am and I always put allot of thought into what I do for people to make it really special. Everyone always compliments me on what I do and how nice it is, how creative, special ect ect. But I feel like I never get the same in return. And I'm not trying to toot my own horn and say I'm great, I'm just saying that I know they are not as crafty / creative as I am and it just ***** when you see something that someone made and put thought and love into and are like, that would be really nice at my shower, or I would really appreciate it or it would be really special if someone gave me that, but they don't because none of my people would do something like that.

Does any of that make sense. It just bums me out. And I'm not trying to be greedy but darn it, I like special stuff too. Sometimes the gifts that are made rather than store bought are the best.

Thanks for listening.

I know what you mean. I make gifts for people all of the time. I was in several wedding parties and sat and made the favors. It is wonderful when someone appreciates the time and effort that went into creating something special. Once in a while it would be nice to have that back in return. But....it is a talent to be creative and maybe everyone is not as confident in themselves or not
able to come up with an idea in a crunch.

Don't be blue that nobody does for you, but be happy at how special you are that you can do!!!

Thanks ladies. I know I sound rude. I love doing these things for people b/c I know it will make something for them more special. I do not look for anything in return for what I do. i guess with everything coming up for the wedding and doing all of these projects and working on my BM's gifts it just kinda got to me b/c I know after all this time that now that it's my time for celebration and stuff that no one will be doing it for me. Does that make sense?

Im creative in my head but I need someone else to execute my ideas for me. I think I can do it but put myself down sometimes thinking I cant do it so thats why I need someone else to do it for me.

I understand what you are saying, I definately prefer handmade gifts to store bought gifts, but a lot of people don't feel confident making things, don't know how to etc.

Maybe you could reach out to different groups and guilds to meet people with the same interests as you, you can learn new skills and have friends who also enjoy making things.

I enjoy quilting and for the past 4 years have been a member and volunteer at a local quilting guild. Not only have my quilting skills improved dramtically but the woman I have met through the guild are truly incredible.
