I have been to weddings with and without a brunch the following day. We are having an afterparty at the house that FH's family is renting anyway after our day wedding, so I don't really see the need for mom to host a brunch the next day.
I was thinking of just doing a smaller (like 20-25 person) family only brunch with a few close friends that flew in from out of town.
Thoughts?

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
I want to do a brunch for the day-after, but I think it really depends on how much money I have left in the budget. Our hotel (holiday inn east end) has a morning breakfast, so if we decide not to, its not like the OOT'ers are screwed out of eating

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
We are not doing a formal brunch on the day after our wedding. But since we have family coming in from Arizona that we don't get to see much, my mom is going to have a bbq or something for just the family the day after the wedding.

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
I don't think it is necessary, especially since you're having a day wedding and an after party.
@MrsJPH2012
I am also using the Holiday Inn East End. Did you look into what they offer for doing a brunch? And price range? I wasn't going to do one since like you said they have the continental breakfast but I think FMIL wants to...

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
Hi girls, saw a few of you are at the Holiday Inn Express East End as well for your hotel blocks- would you mind FM-ing me with the price quotes you got for your room blocks? TIA!

No i haven't asked about quotes yet, but I think i will just in case. I think some of my friends/family will be staying there rather than drive home, but a majority of 'my' guests are from LI or OOT'ers from the East Coast. However FH's family is ALL from the west coast, so a brunch would be nice. However I can't see my rents wanting to pay for more stuff for his side of the family yet, they haven't even said whether they will contribute, or do the RD yet.
But I'll let you know when I get a quote, prob won't be for awhile though.

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
yeah- our hotel has a breakfast too (the Fairfield Inn in Syosset). They are on their own!

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
We won't be. We don't want to pay for it and have people not show up. We were given the option of giving out breakfast tickets, but we don't want to have those go to waste either. The hotel breakfast is like 13 bucks, so it's not a huge deal. We are struggling to have a dinner the night before with the BP and all the OOT guests that came the night before, and I think that's enough. We are also paying for shuttles for the hotel guests. If anyone gripes about not getting brunch, they will get a shoe thrown at them. LOL.

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
We had a brunch the next day but not in the traditional sense. We stayed at the Hyatt in Hauppague. My parents just picked up the tab for eveyones breakfast. They have a restaurant and have a buffet or menu items. They did offer a catered brunch, but I think this worked out a lot better!

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
My FILS are hosting a brunch for his OOT family, and my mom is still trying to put something together for my out of towners (probably just having everyone meet at our favorite diner and footing the bill) and FH and I will go to both.

Re: Are you doing a brunch?
Yeah I'm hoping that the IL's will take the lead on the brunch, (as well as the RD but we didn't cover that yet).
FH is bitter bc his dad paid for most of his step-sister's wedding a few years ago even though her dad is loaded and she didn't grow with with them, so he's like I don't care if the grooms family doesn't pay, my dad should owe me!
LoL all I want is the RD and a brunch outta them!!
