Are you doing anything special for grandparents?

My cousin just got married this Saturday and he had a dance for my grandma (just like the mother/son dance)

She was thrilled

I was thinking of buying them a beautiful pin (because the corsae will die)

Did any of you do anything or get them gifts. Mine had 11 children and has done so much for everyone. I want her to know how loved she is!

I gave my grandmother a gift at the RD, a corsage to wear for the wedding, had my cousins walk her down the aisle and have her announced and walk into the reception.

Unfortunately my grandparents are not alive... but when my cousins got married they had a special song for her..and the male cousins did do a grandma dance, my one female cousin did dance with her too- it was very special...

maybe you can honor your grandparents with a memory table... someone else on LIW did something like this- they had a table set up with wedding photos of each set of parents and grandparents, and hey if you can go back further thats nice too

someone else had a mannequin (SP) with her grandmother's wedding gown on it,and kept it in the lobby near all the photos.

by the way, the corsage/pin is a great idea
and having grandma walked down the aisle too

Thanks for the ideas. Anthony doesnt want to do a memorial table. He said theres just too many people and it would seem like a wake instead of a wedding. Then his mom agreed so I cant do it. :(

I like the dance idea.

My maternal grandparents are the only ones at the wedding. MY FH's grandparents live in Wisconsin and are in their 90s and can't travel. (we each also have one set of grandparents who are deceased).

I am doing a few things, I wrote something in the back of our program for our deceased grandparents, I am having my grandmother read at the ceremony, I am doing a special dance with my grandfather, at the rehearsal I am giving my grandmother a special handkerchief (she gave me her special one at my shower), and both of them an engraved frame with our invitation (they have the real one up and proudly displayed), also of course having flowers for both of them. I am also havign three extra bouquets for the anniversary dance, one for them (and two other couples, great aunts/uncles) who have been married 57 years.

I am thinking of having a dance with my grandpa to Coal Miners Daughter by Loretta Lynn. He loves Loretta Lynn and he was a coal miner his whole life. Hearing that song always makes me think of him and growing up in West Virginia. Then, maybe, half way through the dance I was thinking of having my Mom cut in on us and take over, since she is the true Coal Miners Daughter. As for my grandma, I'm not sure yet She's very, how do you say, fiesty...yes that's the nice word, so I'm not sure what she would really like...but I am still thinking Wish me luck
