Just wondering - we just bought a house & the wedding we're paying for ourselves. We really don't have enough money to buy each other expensive watch or diamond anything!
With budget in mind, is anyone waiting till their 1st anniversary or other time to buy these gifts - I just know we're not going to have the money to do it. I know some girls are doing gifts-

JMO- Don't worry about what everyone else is doing!!!!! For one, you just bought a house. I don't have a pot to piss in!!! My gift to him is a movado watch. I am surprising him.We didn't agree to exchange. The topic never cam up. I'll trade the movado watch for the house?????
I think you guys have done enough. The presents you are exchanging are your vows!!!! Save the money and decorate you house!!! JMO !!!

Honestly, a house is a lot more important than material things so I think you should not worry about expensive gifts.

No, we're skipping that. FH thinks it's ridiculous b/c we don't have the extra money right now. So, no gift for me - just kidding, I don't mind. My gift is the beautiful wedding we're going to have and the amazing husband I'll have at the end of the day.
I think I'll just send a nice letter over to his parent's house for him to read the morning the wedding morning, and maybe just a little token gift. Also, I think he'll be surprised to see that I'm having his band engraved (not that that's costly, but a little something to say I love you).

GIRL! you are each others gifts!!! we did exchange gifts, i don't know if they're really 'expensive' less than 1000
BUT, your house is a major accomplishment and that in and of itself is a gift!!!!!

I saved my money from my afterschool job so I got him a pocketwatch. He didn't give me anything the day of but I got earrings on our HM as a belated wedding gift.

We didn't exchange gifts either. We also bought a house b/f the wedding. And had a short engagement. I really don't think it is necessary!!

Nope we are exchanging a thing and the truth is? I don't really want one. I've asked my FH to send me a card the morning of because his words would mean more than any gift. Money's tight and I just can't see going into debt becauseof something we're supposed to do. A card would always be so much more

We figured our gifts to each other were our wedding bands. We bought small HM gifts though.
We closed on our house two weeks after the wedding. No money left after that.

we didn't...we wanted to save the money for a house, which we bought a month after the wedding, so we just wrote letters to each other the night before and sent them to each other the morning of the wedding. i loved reading my letter, it is a treasured, personal keepsake, and really made me excited about seeing him at the end of the aisle!

We didnt get each other anything but cards, we are waiting for our 1 yr, THe flow was just TO TIGHT to spend. And when you think about it, we are each others gifts

No gifts. He bought my wedding jewelry but I came from our joint account I was gunna buy him somthing but ran out of money. Save the cash. Don't go broke for a wedding gift. it doesn't make sense.
