I'm still debating over this...I'm getting married in December and if I'm going to tan, it will just be once or twice probably within the month before.

I am not... but I am Super pale, and I am getting married in January.

I used to tan, and it takes about 3 weeks 2-3 times a week to get an even color.

How dark you get can depend on your skin type, the type of machine that you use, and the product that you use (Bronzers vs. browners, etc.) I personally used to use Hot Chocolate... it worked great for a deeper tan.

Since I am getting married in February, I am going to go a couple of times a week about a month before my wedding. I don't want to blend in with my dress or the possible snow that might be on the ground.

I would start going a month or so beforehand. You don't want to start like the week before and get all burnt. You should see how your skin is going to react to the tanning booth.

Re: Are you getting a TAN for your wedding

I wanted to get the spray on tan at the spa right before my wedding...but about two weeks before my wedding I broke out on my shoulders and had to go to the dermatologist to get it fixed (I hadn't had that happen since jr. high).

So, as anti-tan as I am, I went to Portafino Sun (they have fab. beds) in Soho 3 times (24-30 mins) the week before my wedding. I had a nice light tan, it got rid of my watch line and strap lines. It was definitely enough.

Edited to add: Because I was having problem skin I opted for a non-comedogenic, hypo-allergenic tan maximizer. I used Climax, and although it was $50 a bottle, it worked well.

I went twice a week (8 minute sessions) for the five weeks before my wedding. I didn't want to be too tan...so this worked for me. It really depends on your skin type.

Since I am getting married 9/3/04, I should have some color. I don't 'tan' like I used to - I don't like it, don't like the look and it's just not good for your skin. (oops, sorry for the soap box!)

I wouldn't try anything new just before your wedding tho...

I am going to do the spray tan at Hollywood tan or Mystic Tan (if there is one around, I saw a segment on them on Stripped on E! yesterday and I like their way of spraying the tan on better). I get nervous with tanning beds. I shouldn't be in the sun at all, even!

I really want to be tan for the wedding (a month from today-aaahhh.) I don't think I'll go to a tanning salon or anything, but I'll have somewhat of a tan from the summer (well, if the sun ever comes out again!!!

Be careful if you go for a makeup trial, then you tan later, your makeup wont look right

I will start a month before the wedding. There is no way I can go to Hawaii without a base.

Both fiance and I will be going tanning 4-6 weeks before the wedding (for 15 min. sessions). We're getting married in March and will be very pale.

I have made it an effort to say away from the sun for the past few years, however, I was a way a couple of weeks ago and just from sitting outside I have tan lines on my shoulders. I signed up for some tanning sessions today only to go a few times to get rid of the lines. I don't want to destroy my skin and I don't want to be too dark for the wedding.

I will definitely tan for my wedding. I am getting married in the summer so it won't look out of place, not sure if I would do it if I was getting married in the winter.

I am getting married in February and I want to tan a bit for my wedding also. I think I'll go twice a week for 8-10 minute sessions for about 3 weeks before my wedding. I don't want my face to be too dark but I want my shoulders to have some contrast against the white of the dress. Ah, the problems we have!

our weddings is labor day weekend, so I am sure I will have color from beach, and motorcycle. I am more worried to be sure to loose my tan lines before wedding. (I think next year with be a strapless shirt summer)
