Or just a DJ?

I'm trying to figure out if I need the extra expense of an MC just to announce the introductions, that the salad's being served etc...

I had just a DJ. We had no problems. I went with just a Dj b/c an MC to me is sweet 16. I didnt want to much cheez. JMO

if you think that a MC will just do intro's and food annoucements you are soooo mistaken.

It really depends on what you want them for. If you want them to just be heard and not seen then thats fine.
But if you want them actively involved (getting the crowd up, holding the mic so you and the girls or guys can sing ) then i suggest getting a separate MC.

Most MC's are NOT DJ's and visa versa. Which means their tone of voice would be different and just the whole feel.

I'm having both but i work for a DJ so i'm very biased.

fh used to book djs for clubs and he wants a two man team

Hope i didnt offend you Adriana- I just meant that he wouldnt exactly be occupied the entire 4 hours. My crowd is going to be half and half. FH's family probably will barely sit down and only some of my family members dance.

I gave my DJ a very detailed script of what I wanted said and at what time, so he doubled as an MC and it was fine.

i am getting both, i feel this is important... this way one guy can focus on the music and the MC can focus on the guests

I think it also depends on the size of your wedding. How many guests are you having?

We are having both. The DJ plays the music, and the MC runs the party....That's how our team works!

we had both. But 95% of the weddings I have gone to just had the DJ and they made the simple announcements.

Our MC was very toned down. I didn't want someone trying to pump up the crowd. If you are like me, and you get an MC, make sure it is one who will run the party to the vibe you are looking for. Our MC asked us a lot of very specific questions- as I think most of them probably do.

I am only having the DJ because I have a small bridal party and small wedding, so I think the DJ can handle that. Also, I really don't need anyone to get my guests up to dance. I didn't think it was worth the extra $$$.
