I am thinking of skipping the guest book, anyone else?

I had a guestbook but only 2 or 3 pages were signed.

We're skipping it.

Me too! Half the people don't sign it anyway

I'm skipping it as well.

I was told by my FMIL that I am probably getting one at my shower. If I don't, I'm not sure I would have one.

I had one and not even 1/4 of the guests signed it!

See my WEDDING REGRETS post on the newlywed board.....

I wish I had someone pass it around or something - how disappointing!

I know it wasn't a question for me....but maybe you can do a photo sign in...I think people are more drawn to sign it!!!!

I too think I will skip it...like all you ladies say...only a handful sign it anyway!
All those special touches, like wish bowls and stuff...get shuffled off in the hustle bustle of the wedding, and go unnoticed by most of the guests.
I find it to be a waste of brides time, money and effort, and then in the end, she is left disappointed.

I had both the guest book and the sign in mat... I think everyone signed my guestbook, and 33 people signed my mat. I really wanted both for sentimental reasons.

The more I read about the wish jar, the more I like it too - but I'm done for now

We're having a guestbook. Though I did think about skipping it, I was sure FH's grandmother would flip out if I didn't have it (she's very traditional that way).

We're getting married at our hall, so I think that increases our chances of getting it signed since people don't really have anywhere else to go.

It's going to be set up outside our ceremony room on a table with a candleabra, votives, and two floral arrangements in clear round bowls so it will be noticeable. We're also having a sign in a silver frame that will say 'Please sign our guestbook...'

ETA: I was at a wedding recently where the DJ reminded people to sign the guestbook -- I thought this was helpful.

For as much $$ as I ended up having to spend on this guestbook (it was discontinued I think the week before I tried to order it), those people had BETTER be signing my guestbook!

Maybe I'll stand at the table and harass people myself -- 'have you SIGNED?'

There was a guest book passed around at my bridal shower and still so many did not sign it. One thing I have noticed at weddings I've attended, is if there is a line to sign something, most people walk away intending to come back and never do. They get caught up in eating, drinking and dancing
