If not, how are you telling the parents that you want the kids to be a part of the special day, but not the party?

Re: Are you inviting the FG and BR to the reception?
If I was a parent of the fg, or br(RB), I'd be offended....sorry JMO

I am not inviting them to the reception. Actually all of the parents were happy, this way they can enjoy themself without having to keep an eye on them. I guess it depends on the person.

I don't have a ring bearer and yes, I'm having my flower girl at the reception because she lives in Florida and I never get to see her. She's also my niece and Goddaughter.

In my opinion..ask the parents what their plans are.
Since my friend is gracious enough to let hr son be my daughters escort and she is also in the wedding.....I thought he woould be an exception to the no kids rule...after all he did earn his meal so to speak

Absolutely! It wouldn't be a wedding without them, they are my nieces and nephews.

Re: Are you inviting the FG and BR to the reception?
how do you handle telling the parents you don't want the kids at the reception? it's a little touchy. orginally FSIL said that she will have them only for the coktail hour and then have a babysitter (at nearby home). then today (in a round about way) she told me she doesn't really like the babysitter anymore.
FI's BIL told him yesterday that the kids will probably have too much fun at the cocktail hour and he won't want to send them home, so they will probably stay.
quite honestly, i thought we were set on not having any of the kids for the whole reception. whose call is it? i don't want to be rude, but don't know what to do. FI's other sister got married recently and the kids were invited.
ETA: i also paid for all the attire. wasn't even offered to me (them paying).
ETAA: my nephew is one of the RB and my sister absolutely doesn't want him at the reception. the other RB and FG is my FI's sisters kids.

I feel the same way! We have 7 nieces and nephews and 8 little cousins. It's kind of 'if you invite one you have to invite all' kind of thing. We really didn't want 15 kids aging from 2-7 running around. His sisters said they don't mind. They will have a babysitter pick the kids up after the church. It all depends. Tough situation though...

im in the same situation. i told the parents that my fg's are welcomed to the cocktail hour but the reception is for adults only. i would hope they would understand and would want to enjoy themselves also.

FG and RB are invited to the recption. We are letting our close family bring their kids. I want all my cousins to be at both my wedding and reception. Theyare a total of about six.

They were invited to our reception. We did have a couple of other children, however and hired a babysitter so the parents could relax.

I'm allowing children at my wedding reception, but in general I think that if someone is in your bridal party or is in any way part of your ceremony, they (or their parents for them) will expect an invitation.

This is pretty much what we're doing. They'll be at the cocktail hour (as will the rest of my nieces and nephews). The FG and RB will be announced into the reception, have the dance and within a short time after, the babysitter will be by to get them. I don't think this is offensive at all, this is how it has always gone in our families. Who wants small children there, especially at a night wedding. Not me, and not their parents!
