Are you marrying the type of guy that you thought was the 'perfect' type for you?

Are you marrying the type of guy that you thought was the 'perfect' type for you?

Or did you fall someone that you didn't think was your type at all?

I fell for exactly the type of guy that I'd always dreamed of - a tall, brainy jock who is silly, sweet, affectionate, confident, and most importantly, respectful to me .
The only thing that almost kept us apart is that he's 5 years younger than me, and I swore I'd never date younger guys. But, he quickly got me over that!

We are total opposites- but I love it. We complement each other.

We have learned alot from each other.

We couldn't be MORE DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone laughs and can not understand why we are together...but it works out PERFECT!
We balance each other....

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor where I fell after I laughed so hard.

NO way man. I used to always go for guys who were over 6 foot, over 200 lbs. FH is 6'2, 165. I also was not prepared for the level of ball busting that came along with him...I really had to develop a thick skin, but it has made me a better person (not as emotional or sensitive), a better worker, a better money-saver etc.

What he IS, and this is why God sent him to me...is a solid, hard working, generous spirit with a heart of gold who doesn't have a flaky bone in his body. He will be a solid husband and a solid father. This is what I needed in my life - not necessarily what I wanted. God gives you the spouse you're meant to have.

Well I think we have a great balance and yes he is in some ways what I thought and in some ways not. What I love is the balance between us - he picks up where I'm lacking and I pick up where he is lacking - and so we make a perfect balance.

When I met FH i was with someone else, but i totally fell for the 'idea' of FH. he was like perfection in all ways. tall, smart, same religion and culture, charming, romantic .. just perfect!

but of course he lived 3,000 miles away which i never wanted .. but i guess you have to compromise

we are SO much alike, but different in some ways, which makes it more interesting.
He is the man of my dreams...otherwise I wouldnt have married him

We are total opposites, too! Not what I expected. But he is perfect for me!

I had almost the exact situation as Anniegrl! He is smart, sweet, caring, respectful, and 5 years younger! I had dated younger guys before, and after some bad situations, I swore I would never do it again. Well, along he came, and broke that rule!

He's exactly the way I pictured him to be except a lot more politically outspoken (much more than I would like at times) and a little more poorer than I had wished - - but he's my man, wouldn't trade him in for anyone.

he's the exact type of person i'd always pictured. we just clicked from the very beginning. he's so much like my father and my brother. (which is enough to drive my mom, my SIL and myself crazy! LOL!) all kidding aside, I couldn't have asked for any better.

OMG not in a MILLION years!!! I never said to myself I want to find a guy that is 15 years older then I am AND divorced with 4 teenage children! But I always said to myself I want someone who is intelligent, who can make me laugh, who has the same ideals, morals and goals as I have and someone who loves me as much as I love him! (That part I got!)

P.S. - Rachel your post brought tears to my eyes!

Good question!
I'm like a few of you- Anniegirl- he's 4 years younger than I am. When we 1st met & he told me his age my first thought was 'this is never going to work' We are TOTAL OPPOSITES- that part I never even thought about....

Do I think he's the type of guy I always pictured myself with- yes & no! he makes me laugh like no other person can, he's smart!!! really cute, & we have fun together- that's what I always wanted in life! We compliment eachother really well.

(I've never known any man who didn't like sports! I always thought that my husband would so much appreciate my love of sports, watching sports, going to games- and nope- my FH does not like them nor know anything about them... haha- just one example)

John is totally different than any of the guys I was with before.

Before I met DH, most of my boyfriends were older than me, most were tall and built like Mack trucks, most were very outgoing, life-of-the-party sort of guys.

DH is 5 years younger than me , much more introverted and pensive, more thoughtful and sensitive, etc. Almost the exact opposite of previous boyfriends.

I never pictured myself with a younger guy, never thought I'd be compatible with someone who is quieter than I am. Well, now I couldn't imagine a day without him-he is my perfect compliment, we are compatible in every way, not just husband and wife but also truly best friends.

I think that the Lord grants us not what we think we want, but rather what He believes we need.

Chris is totally opposite of any of the guys I dated before him...he's more like my dad whereas the others were more like my mom (which was *not* a good thing on any level) or just doofy college boys.

No, but that's because I've always been attracted to the wrong type.
I married the type of guy that MY MOTHER always thought would be perfect for me.
Guess she was right.
