I wanted to give our officiant something for marrying us. I don't want to give him money. So I was thinking of getting him a $50 gift certificate to dinner. Hows that sound??
And our banquet manager. He has been so great and helpful to me the entire planning process. And as money is running very short I was thinking of getting him a $50 gift certificate for dinner as well.
Does this sound good, unnecessary, not enough or too little?? Thanks!!

Re: Are you or did you get gifts for...
Good question...I was wondering the same. Also I heard you are supposed to invite the officiant to rehersal dinner and reception. Is anyone doing that?

I may get a gift for the banquet manager, she's so helpful, but as for the officiant, I don't plan on giving a gift or tip. I feel that since they're not a family priest or rabbi that they're being paid enough already for 20 minutes of their service. My rehearsal will be the day of, so there's no need to invite tem to the RD. JMO

My feelings exactly.
As for our Banquet Manager - I love him - he's great - but his gratuity is already built in - meaning he is going to get a very nice money amount from us. He will get a nice thank you card and picture.

i think if the officiant is from the church or temple, then its customary to tip, however i dont think you need to tip one that you hire for a reception hall..
the banquet manager doesnt need to be tipped since they are getting commison from the hall.

Banquet manager, maybe. But our officiant has a fee, so we have to give him money.
