Are you reading to your belly and playing music?

I guess everyone has heard of this by now... I'm wondering if anyone is actually doing it and what you are reading or playing?

When I was PG I played classical music in the car.

No I haven't done anything like that... I thought I would when I first got pregnant, but havent really had the time.

A co-worker said that it was helpful that his wife played music while the baby was in the womb. Apparently, whenever the baby would go sleep, she would completely knock out with the CD they played while she was in the womb.
However, they forgot to do it with the 2nd child, and the lil boy is a terror, and doesn't have a set sleep time...

Needless to say, I'm not taking any chances!

I don't read to the belly, no!

But I do talk to it and DH plays guitar and sings to it! the baby always reacts by dancing around! So no calming affects here!

Well, technically it would be pointless if I did right now. I thought babies weren't even able to hear until the 5th month? I could be wrong. When I get to that point though, I'll do both.

Ive only read once and sometimes try to play classical music when I get a chance, I do however play the music loud on my way home from working mostly rock music though so I dont know if thats the best thing or not.

I put little earphones on my belly and try out different types of music...

My DH put his cellphone to my belly while it was playing a salsa song and the belly started jumping!!

I guess he's got some rhythm...it must be from my DH's 1/2 Puerto Rican side...

I just looked it up, because I had heard 5 months and this is what I found:

Have a chat
By the end of your second trimester, your baby's hearing will be pretty well developed. He'll be able to hear what's going on outside and react to the sounds he hears. He'll even begin to remember sounds. Like the sound of music or your voice. So go on and get chatty, or sing a song. Somebody will be listening.
