Hi, just wondering how many of you are considering not using the dais and just sitting with your guests?
I've talked to FH about this but he's not too keen on the idea although I LOVE it! I wanna be able to talk to my close friends, even if that means I won't be able to sit at the dais.
Thoughts?

With the day sure to be hectic, we want the dais for the few moments we will be able to have a quiet moment.

You are correct. Dais is for and the entire BP. Sweetheart table is just for .
Personally, we are sitting at sweetheart table.

oh right, yeah it's actually a sweetheart table then. dais are kinda outdated, aren't they?
yes, then I won't do a dais then, it just doens't sound right. i'm sitting with future hubby in the middle of the room with close friends, not family otherwise one or another side of the family might say we're playing favorites to one side or another!

If you sit with guests you get lost in the crowd. Totally me and man are in the front in the lime light!
I think we'll be in the limelight as is with me wearing that poofy white dress. :D
I haven't given it too much thought but I really like the idea of sitting with some close friends so I can chat with them. FH and I will have so much time together alone the rest of our lives anyway.

Re: Are You Sitting With Guests? POLL
We originally wanted to sit with our bridal party, but then we realized theres so many we'd have to split the bridal party up - and then came the dilemma of which to sit with... so to not hurt any feelings we're sitting by ourselves... which when I think about it will be nice, so I can have FH all to myself for a little bit at least.

Re: Are You Sitting With Guests? POLL
We originanally thought about being seated at a the table with our parents, BP, etc.
In the end, we did a sweetheart table.
You can't fit ALL the people you want next to you. Some people who are close may feel outcast (they are not part of the 'special' table).
BUT mostly, you will feel tempted to stay at your table and talk to your closest guests... and forget about the OTHER guests.
I loved being able to share some 'break' time from talking to my guests with only my DH at the sweetheart table.... or have some comments/talk about our wedding without having our other guests hear our conversation.
ETA: I love the 'extra' space for my dress. It was easier to get in and out of my table.

We want the sweetheart table. What other wedding would we go to where we will have the whole table to ourselves. I think we will need a few moments of alone time by that point anyway.

We did the sweetheart table. You will probably be sitting down for a grand total of 15 minutes during dinner and for the toast. and yes, it was nice to have the time to chat with DH and take it all in and also it was nice to have a few moments to ourselves..otherwise I don't think we would have eaten at all!

Re: Are You Sitting With Guests? POLL
We had a sweetheart table. The above posts are correct... you sit for all of 15 mins and it was nice to hold hands and take it all in. When we finished eating we walked around to all of the other tables to talk to our guests, and we spent the rest of the night dancing!!

You can do a head table if you want that way you are still center of attention at the reception and you're still sitting with your bridal party, which I can only assume are you closets friends.

Ditto, fo all the same reasons. I think I told you, I even knocked over a flower arrangement with my dress, so that room was absolutely necessary for me. And I wasn't even drunk!
Also, at a sweetheart table, everyone knows exactly where you are. If you're at a guest table, they have to search for you.
And you surely won't be able to get back to your table without being accosted - if you're in the middle of the room. But that's the same anyway, isn't it?
