send a monetary gift or a gift off of a registry if you are unable to attend a wedding??? FH and I have a wedding that we are unable to attend but are unsure as to the etiquette simply b/c we've always went to the weddings we were invited to...

usually a monetary gift is more practical to send than somenthing off the registar. I usually send the RSVP saying that I can't attend with a check inside.
P.S. IF you are sending a check make the check under one of the couple's name maybe they dont have a joint account yet.

i sent the rsvp back and then sent them something off their registry delivered directly to them.
