Are you supposed to give gifts to the in laws on the wedding day?
We gave our parents gifts at the RD along with the BP gifts, but not the wedding day. It might be too hectic on the wedding day.
You're not obligated to get them gifts, but if you really wanted to get them something, then go for it. I didn't even think of buying the family anything, and even now that you brought it up, I don't think I will. I might get my mom one of those embroidered hankies or jewelry to wear the day of, but if FH wants to get his MIL something, then that's all him.
I didnt think of this... Hmm i don't know what i would do for both of his parents but during the ceremony I plan to do something special for my mother and his. I am going to have them put two extra roses in my bouqet that can be removed and then going to give one to each, telling them they are special women in my life and I am so grateful to have them both. At the end of the night I will not be tossing my bouqte-just handing it to my mother to save-she is sentimental like that. Not sure abut the dads.
i would have loved to shower everyone with presents! but in the end i just got my MIL her day of jewelery and paid for her dress. (FIL didn't come ot the wedding, so no gift for him)
I will if there is $ left over.
We are getting both parents a digital picture frame.
Each mom got an album and we are making copies of the DVDs for everyone. We also gave each mom a special gift - I gave her an Armani statue and we gave his mom a gold snowflake charm because that was our 'theme' and she has a charm bracelet that she's had for a long time and wears frequently. We gave one of his stepdads a nice, personalized pen. My dad is deceased and we did not give his dad anything as he didn't have a big role in his life, and we didn't give his current stepdad anything, because we really wanted to acknowledge the guy that raised him.
yes, we gave my Dhs parents a thank you gift at the RD---they helped contribute to the wedding and it was the right thing to do-
