Are you telling your seamstress your real wedding date or a week or two earlier?
Somebody said it's good to tell the seamstress that your wedding date is a week or two before the actual date so you don't run the risk of getting the gown last minute or something.
thoughts?
ETA: I'm also wondering if it would be a problem because I've seen some brides say they lose weight the week of the wedding.
But how late could you be having alterations done anyhow?
Do independent seamstresses generally have the gown pressed for you?

I told the dress store that my wedding was on June 1 which is 2 weeks earlier.

If your certain you will have a place to store it high so it wont get wrinkled, then yes, I would say yes to a week early. There's so much running around to do before the wedding that it's best to get what you can out of the way.

ah yes, good point, because the seamstress will press it for you, right?
I have a place to hang it, so that's not a problem.

I dont think you really have too much to worry as far as losing weight the week before. Just try not to extend it to like a month before the wedding. And Im sorry to report I've heard of a few past brides getting alterations done up until two days til the wedding.
PS - Whoever is making alterations to your dress are usually the ones resposible for steaming it also.
