arguing

arguing

I have found since my FH and I got engaged we seem to be arguing a lot more then we did before the ring was put on my finger. Has this happened with anyone else and does anyone have any suggestions? We have been arguing about everything it seems...people tell me its the stress and bringing two lives together into one but I would like to know what you all think.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear you and FH are having trouble. It probably is due to all the new stress.

Re: arguing

This happened to us. It will pass, I promise. For me it was the stress of sharing my decision making with someone else. I wasn't used to asking someone if they liked the plates I picked out, etc.

We had to work on it, but eventually we came to an agreement and my compromising skills are now in overdrive.

WE are both very stubborn so I am sure that has something to do with it and we both want our way. I think that I am going to have to learn to compromise more...something for me and him to work on.

I was thinking the same thing. We used to argue so much because I wanted to get engaged and he kept telling me he wasn't ready. Obviously he was lying, but still...... A couple of weeks ago I was like 'wait, now we need something else to argue about!'

Re: arguing

we don't see each other enough to fight, we only see each other on weekends, and we rarely fight

But i know that with us moving in together soon, this will not be the caes, luckily there is more than one floor to the house

Yeah we argue about everything wedding related. It's terrible. Can't wait for the wedding to be over. We're not wedding people...

I would say from Thanksgiving right up to New Years we were floating on cloud nine. Now I think the reality of it all is settling in and I'm getting a little pissy over things. He has an opinion, sometimes a strong one, but I know his heart is in the right place.

May I suggest a 'date night' and try not to talk family or wedding or anything like that?

ITA,
I find the the reason we fight now is because I always want to talk about weddings and he just wants thing to be 'normal'. Maybe a night a week of no wedding talk would help!

Yeah.. FH are arguing a little more then normal and i'm sure it will continue. It's rough because now you have someone else telling you how to save and what to spend your money on and visa versa.

FH and i also have had sex less often. My friend got married last april and he said the same thing happened to him. It's just about stress and your mind being in a million places at once.

Re: arguing

we havent begun to argue more since getting engaged but we definately have been under more stress. getting engaged, thinking about money, FH's dad getting laid off and a bunch of other family drama contribute to it.

its a HUGE change in your life and it takes time to adjustment. be patient and remember that you're getting married!!

Re: arguing

it hasn't happened to us ... yet lol

I can see how it easily can though.. I'm sure some point during our engagement we'll bicker about something..

I wouldn't let it worry you though.. Its gonna happen with so much change (see like everyone posts!) It's all the new decisions your making, the money your spending, probably tons of new pressures you two have upon yourselves now.. you two love each other, and you know you two want to spend the rest of your lives together.. so smile!

AWWW! FH and I fight all the time! Not fight I mean argue. Its healthy to butt heads every now and than. You just gotta choose your battles, and learn to laugh at the really stupid ones. And remember this little saying 'Babe, it really isn't that bad, so why are we even getting upset over it.' FH and I both have hot heads. One of us has to be the sane one. Let the guy be the nut lol

Sorry to hear about you and your FH fighting. It is true that sometimes the stress of this new stage in life does get to you and FH and it does cause problems but it will pass. you two just have a lot going on
