Arguing with Fh about going to MSG for a Knicks game in refernece to terriorism and the Looming war...

My Fh thinks when your time is up, it is up, and I believe it also, , but I also do not think it is worth it to put yourself in jeopardy, why go where there could be a problem , but still live your life. With everything that is going on I am afraid to go to a basketball game he got tickets for in October of last year for a few weeks from now. Opinions on how to handle it? To me life is more important then living in fear where I would be uncomfortable- why risk putting yourself at that risk. Any ideas on how to handle this one ???

do you work in the city? If so I am not so sure a game is any less safe than taking the trains or public transportation where anyone could basically do anything.
I would not go if you are uncomfortable - but keep in mind anything could be a target and I am not sure that a game would be anymore of a target than penn station or grand central during rush hour.
I believe in living your life - just being a little more cautious than you might normally- keep your wits about you and if you are uncomfortable leave.

Just a question for all of those worried...you have a higher chance of being hit by a car when crossing the street then you do of being affected by a terrorist attack. Do you ever hesitate about crossing the street?

I can understand your concerns. FH works about 8 blocks from where the WTC was. My cousin works for the American Stock Exchange, which was right in the middle of everything on 9/11. I am worried about both of them everyday. But you can't let it prevent you from living your life. If there's a specific threat, then I can understand worrying, but until then you just have to hope and pray that nothing bad happens and go on living your life.

Not trying to offend anyone, just voicing my thoughts here.

I personally wouldn't let the threat of war or terrorism stop you from doing what you enjoy. If you stop doing things that lets the terrosits win. NY is the safest it has ever been and has a ton of things inplace in the event of an attack. I am in constant contact with all the city's security agencies and I am very confident things are under control.

Go to the game and enjoy!!!

I dont think MSG is any more risky than crossing the street or getting in your car. Even with the added terrorist threats, its still far more dangerous in terms of statistics to drive on a highway or eat a piece of steak!

There is absolutely nothing you can do to protect youself from terrorists - so dont let them stop you from enjoying your life.
