I was watching MTV's True Life Im Having an Arranged Marriage today and it got me thinking. I could definately not do it. Its a beautiful tradition, but not for me. I dont think I could trust my parents. How does everyone else feel? Would you let your parents pick your husband?

I couldn't do it either. Although I trust my parents completely and I know they would pick someone who is kind and caring, if I wasn't in love with them I don't think I could go through with it. I have a friend at work who is a devout Muslim though, and her son is in college and she is planning on an arranged marriage for him and he is ok with it. So I guess if you grow up knowing that its going to happen then it might not be such a big deal. I dont know though, tough question!!

I just saw that to and I though it was so weird that these girls allow their parents to chose their husband, but all of them seamed not to mind to much. I wouldn't be able to marry someone i didn't know. it would just be weird and awkward.

I wouldn't do it . If u are raised knowing this will happen , i guess u accept it. It is not a big deal then.

you know what.. my parents know me and they know what i like.. so no it wouldn't bother me... but i know that's never going to happen.. hahahaha so i dont have to worry, but i think it's a different tradition then we're used to...
this one woman from my job had an arranged marriage... she said that the first guy that came to see her, she didnt like and told him and her parents no.. then the second guy came.. and she liked him... and they've been together for like 15 or 20 years... i think it's sooo cute... but at least from what she told me, you are allowed to say no, and pick on that you like from the choices they picked.. lol

I was watching it too...I def. couldn't do that. I would want to pick who I'm spending the rest of my life with, but that one couple really seemed to love each other.

Yea that guy who brought his wife from India? Yea they seemed to love each other alot! It was cute how he was introducing her to iced tea mix and popsicles.

I think she did did an article on MSN about her situation. I remember the iced tea thing lol.

My cousin sal was supposed to be arranged. He used to own a pizzarea in manhattan, and the woman was a doctor. When he backed out... his family disowned.
I think its a crazy tradition... but.. some like it... It always reminds me of the wedding planner...
now if it was MAssimo they were setting me up with...

I couldn't do it either! Its hard enough sometimes living with a man I've know for 4 years, let alone a person, I met yesterday, had to marry him, and sleep with him too.

I would never go for it, and I honestly dont think it's a good tradition at all. I think it's way too dated and it shouldn't be allowed.
