Arrgh another wedding planning issue!! Help!

It seems that every part of this planning problem has issues that just creep up and make me crazy!
Now, I have just sent out my invitations this past weekend and had a whole discussion with my mom about whether to invite her friends from work who are single with or without a guest. Since my fh and I are footing the bill and things are getting a little out of hand we decided that her friends from work who I barely knew and who were not dating or married would be invited alone. Now, my mom went into work this morning and one of them told her yes, I am so happy to be invited I will be there with a guest!!!! My mom said she did not know what to say so she did not say anything. All she said was 'I would never have done that' but since her friend said it to her that way she just let it go!! If all of the people arrive with guests who are not invited with one we are going to be way over my limit ie from expecting 110 guests to close to 200!!! Do I say something or just let it go? Why is everything turning into a big headache!!!

Re: Arrgh another wedding planning issue!! Help!

I think every bride on this board has had this problem People just don't read their invitations!!!! If it doesn't say 'And Guest' - there's no guest!!!

I think your Mom needs to take this woman aside and explain to her that you're very close to your limit and unfortunately are unable to extend an invitation to her guest. I'm not sure the most tactiful way to do that. If you don't mention something - word may spread at the office and either a) create some jealousy problems or b) the entire office brings guests.

I am wondering if you can wait until she returns her RSVP and then have your mom mention it?? Maybe between now and then this woman will come to her senses.

Good Luck!!!

I would also wait until she sends the response back. Then you will be sure as to whether or not she is bringing someone. And you should also know by then if you could let it slide if you have enough 'no' returns.

We invited everyone with a guest. We got a lot of responses back without a guest. You may want to wait.
