ARRRRRRRGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! Photographer I wanted is booked on my date!

This is the only vendor choice that I KNEW I would not have to research b/c I wanted Imagine Studios. That was it. I called them last month and the dates I was considering were open. So I picke my hall and, well, someone recently booked my date. So, now I have NO CLUE!!! I have had 3 weddings in the family so far and every bride hated her photographer. So I can't take those referrals. I don't know why this is upsetting me so much. I just really really wanted to just book them and not have to stress out with researching and decision making.

Does anyone know of another company that does similar work to Imagine Studios?

I think Roma (I think in Sayville) does similar work. We went with Imagine Studios but our second choice was ADA Studios. They do great work too...

Go see Mark Kauffman Studios. You will love the work. Not that any two photographers are the same but his studio does great candids and great posed shots. I think you might like his stuff too.

I cannot see how ADA is anything like Imagine though. They seem to be very different styles. Are you looking for lots of b&w, candids, capturing the moment type stuff or a lot of formals?

Laura- Check out Photography by Verdi. I also LOVED Lia's work but I wasn't too crazy about the video. I am also looking for a photographer like Lia's work...If you check out Verdi's website you will see what I mean. Also take a look at Creative Compositions. Both of these photographers are similar. Have you only booked the hall, and that's it?

If so, perhaps then you can move your date so that it works with imagine, esp. if your wedding is far away... It may be worth a try.

Check out Jovon. I think their website it www.jovonstudios.com or their number is 516-922-3535. I'm sorry to hear you are so disappointed about Imagine but there are lots of other good photographers!

We do have Imagine (Thank God!!) but if they would have been booked I would have went with Wedding Group One. IMO I think they do very similiar work and are priced around the same. Actually it was a hard decision between the two but the second time I went to see Imagine and from what all the girls say about them I knew they were it but seriously check out WGO. I had been to almost every photographer everyone just posted on here and I will tell you work ( if you are going after the Imagine look), price and vibe ...I would check out WGO or VIP ( he is cheaper than both which also kinda made us wonder why but his work is good at least IMO). This is all just my opinion and taste so I hope I didn't offend anyone. They are all good photographers it just depends on your taste and budget.

Oooh, I forgot about Wedding Group One! I found out about them after I had already decided on Imagine but I remember their work was so similar. I'd definitely suggest checking them out... good call!!

thanks for the suggestions. I have heard of some of the ones mentioned. But I can tell you that my fiance has a stick up his butt when it comes to Jovon - he must of looked at them with his ex-fiance or something. He doesn't want to do anything with me that he did with her. Gotta respect that! So I can't go there.

I am so inexperienced with photogrpahy that I don't even know how to explain what I want but I just know it when i see it. I guess i can say that i definitely want the black and white, candid, storybook type of photography. And I want to make sure I actually meet with THE person(s) that we be there at my wedding - a mistake my sister made. She used a company that a friend recommended but never thought to specify the same person so she ended up with some jerk that was calling our cousin 'Prego' (she was 8 1/2 months) the whole night and cracking stupid jokes like we were 12 year olds at our first prom. He was annoying to say the least.

Anyway, now that i have to ask these questions, how many places should i check out to comparison shop and how long did it take most people?

P.S. - Not sure if I really could change the date on the hall if I but just to gage his reaction, I made mention of it today to FH and he did not take well to it........

I booked with Duet in Huntington Station - Imagine was also booked for my wedding, I found duet to have a similar style - they also give you 2 photographers.

The only other photographer that I liked was Full View Studios (I think they are a vendor on theknot.com). He took great pictures but he was a little pricey for me and I definately wanted the 2 photographers - I LOVE PHOTOJOURNALISM!!

Just an FYI, Roma and Verdi are pretty expensive IMO. I looked at Roma and the wirk is incredible if money is no object, but what you get for the same at imagine plus a video, it is not really comparable. Mark Kaufman's prices are much more comparable and the work is pretty decent. Just my opinion..good luck!

Hi one company whose work I liked was Something In Blue, I did not go to see them, after we met with Imagine, we canx all other appts. Check them out Something In Blue

I second Spelman Studios! Christine was awesome for my wedding and the proofs are stunning (I'll share them soon ladies!). She has been a pleasure to work with and her work is exceptional. I am so pleased!
