Aruba!

DH and I are going to Aruba tomorrow.. we can't wait. We are staying at the Marriott Stellaris.. does anyone have any restaurant recommendations?

we heard that the lighthouse, the windmill, salt and pepper, madame jeanettes and some place where you eat around a pool (my friend couldn't remember the name) were all good.. any feelings on these?

El Gaucho!!!! FH looved the steak there!!!!!!

DEF!!!

and do the KuKu Kanuku - its the big red bus you will see driving crazy drunks around the island! it was SOOOOO much fun!!! they take you to dinner & bar hopping all night...i think it was about $75 per person - but TOTALLY worth it!

dont bother going horseback riding unless you want to be scared sh*tless of possibly falling down really steep cliffs!

ALSO - do Mi Dushi - AWESOME sailing/snorkeling trip!!

we went to Arbua on our HM & did everything possible! any questions feel free to FM me!

lighthouse is very expensive madame jeanettes is AWESOME!!!

also - if you and DH are meat eaters - go to Texas de Brazil... its a resturant over by the high rises - right down the block from salt & pepper actually!

AND the Sopranos Piano Bar (also in the area of salt & pepper) is a REALLY fun bar!! we went there twice!!

they have cute little shop stands over there too!

Oh i loved the shops over there!! We went there 3 years ago and stayed at the Aruba Resort Spa and casino which is now the Westin and LOOOOVED it!!! we are staying at that occidental this time and I cannot wait! I heard the pizza place across from the occidental is pretty decent for lunch...
If you like fondue theres a fondue place too.

I suggest going to concierge when you get there and asking them for some recommendations, the people there are so nice and honest!!!

The Italian restaurant at the lighthouse IS expensive but it is SO good!!! That is where FH proposed to be so I am slightly biased but it really is delish!!! And you eat outdoors and view the sunset but don't have your feet stuck in the sand so we preferred it to The Flying Fishbone (altho that place is good, too!).

Madame Jeanette's is also amazing! And El Gaucho is great if you're steak-lovers! We also did the ATV tour which was SO much fun!

i was just at the occidental for our hm for 2 weeks, you're going to LOVE IT!!!!

PS - Enjoy the display of thongs at 9pm in the ballroom every night. You'll know what i mean when you go.

ditto!!! el gaucho was one of our favorites! we were not impressed by madame jeanette's but everybody seems to love it so maybe we just went on a bad night!

i also would HIGHLY recommend the sunday brunch at the hyatt. it's really pricey considering it's brunch, but it's like nothing you've ever seen! (if i remember right, it's about $50 pp!) the spread of food is out of this world--if you go, plan on eating A LOT and plan on staying for a long time. they told us they have some people who sit there all day and eat!!

have a great time! we LOOOOOOVED aruba!

i've been to aruba twice in the past two years and most recently there in june. i stayed at both the marriott surf club and the ocean club.

the stellaris hotel is really nice. thepool is nice too.. they have a breakfast at the hotel each day that was a good amount of food.

here are some restaurants:
madamme jeanettes for sure.
aqua grill is really good too
the outdoor on the beach at the marrot (totally blanking)
casa tu (or something like that) was good for a light meal one night
we never made it to flying fishbone but heard its good
go downtown to el gaucho great steak house

sorry to crash but that steak house is the best!! we were there last year and are going to aruba this saturday (same hotel as you) & are def goin back there.

OMG You guys are AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for the ideas!! We are totally going to check them out!
