Aruba / Cabo or Block-Island

Aruba / Cabo or Block-Island

I noticed a post from 2006 about the topic of Aruba / Cabo for a wedding/ HM in October. I'm adding Block Island to the mix - which is off the coast of Rhode Island.

My concerns w/ Cabo is the hurricane season.
My concerns w/ Aruba is the cost incurred for guest as well as that I want an all inclusive property and can't choose between the Rui or the Occidental.

Any comments are appreciated

Aruba is just about hurricane free. Aruba would be great, BI is wonderful but pricey. It was our second choice. Any particular BI venue?

Cabo is hurricane free because it's not in the caribbean. We are planning on HM there because we're getting married in August and we can't go to the caribbean because it's hurricane season.

Block Island might be cheaper for your guests - they won't need to fly, and it is sort of their off season there. I think it'd be beautiful.

I liked Aruba alot. We stayed at the Marriott Stellaris which was NOT all inclusive. I would not stay at an all inclusive in Aruba because the restaurants are great and so is the nightlife..why limit yourself to one resort?

With that being said, your guests dont have to stay at the hotel/resort where your wedding is held. If I was going to a wedding in Aruba, I would stay at the Marriott again or the Radisson which I hear is real nice and take a taxi to the wedding.

Did you ever check out the Riu at tripadvisor.com? I'm totally avoiding it due to the NUMEROUS reports of theft at the resort. We are thinking of going to the Occidental Aruba for our honeymoon in Nov.

My friend is going to the Occidental next month for her honeymoon. I'll let you know how they liked it, if you would like.

I actually think it would be wiser to have the wedding at all-inclusive resort. It saves everyone $$ and time in the long-run. Restaurants at non-all-inclusives and outside of hotels are crazy $$$ in Aruba and on most islands.
