Aruba Honeymoon!!!
Honeymoon was great, despite our trip home, which you will read about as you continue to read.
Let's see we arrived in Aruba last Monday, the 6th. Our flight was delayed about 2 and a half hours due to weather in NYC. A former student of mine and his family were on our plane, and going to be staying in our hotel.
Got to Aruba safely, went through customs and checked into our hotel, the Radisson. They gave us an oceanview room. on the 5th floor... We then got moved to the 8th floor oceanview, conceierge floor, where we had breakfast, tea time, and appetizers....
Easter is a big holiday in Aruba, so people camp out in tents and party all night. We crashed their party for like 10 minutes one night to see what it was all about....
We had couples massages, went to the beach and pool. Had dinner each night at different nice restaurants, although food is not as good as NY food, Chalet Suisse and H'osteria V soemthing were 2 of our favorite restaranants. Checked out other hotels as well. Went downtown to the shops, which I loved. Went to casino every night, but unfortunately casino was not good to us! Oh well, fun times though... We met some nice people in Aruba.
Weather was warm, sunny and about 91 degrees each day. Nice winds at time, as well. Got some color!!!!
The most exciting thing my husband loved which I was daring as well was the 4 hour ATV tour! Yes we got very dirty and drove ATV's through Aruba. I held on to my husband for dear life.... We went up crazy steep mountains, and down mountains and along roads and dirt and rocks and saw many attractions in Aruba, including the Natural Pool. We have great pictures. What made me feel better was there were kids on the tour.
Our flight home has given us many memories for our honeymoon scrapbook, and many stories to talk about for years... I'll start off by saying I missed work today and wasn't supposed to.
Our flight was suppose to leave at 4:30 yesterday. We got to the airport about 2:00, went through customs, security twice and boarded about 3:45 PM. We were all ready to go early about 4:10 PM and we started leaving, on the ground and then they said ut oh we have a problem. Thank goodness, we didn't take off yet!!!! They tried to fix the problem and had no luck, it was the nose steering piece. They worked on it for like 3 hours but we were all scared at this point and didn't even want to be on this flight even if they fixed it. So about 7:30 ish, they told us there was no way we could use this plane, it was broken. They towed the plane back but the airport was closed, small airport in Aruba. They had to get us stairs and we climbed off the plane. They bussed about 150 of us to the Renaissance Hotel about 8:30 ish, and gave us $15.00 each toward dinner and they gave us a hotel room for a few hours. They told us that they would try to get us out of there by 2:00 AM, but if not we could be stranded for a few days, cause all flights were full... I was like oh no! There were some other teachers on the plane too, all having to go back to work today... If I was still on vacation, it would have been great to get extra days. Anyway we got to the Renaissance and they told us to meet us in the lobby about 11:30 PM for a possible 2 AM flight. We ate dinner on credit and gambled some more, no luck. Then we went to hotel lobby about 11:15 PM and busses picked up and brought us back to airport at midnight. Airport only opened for us, no one else there... (Everyone was at the soda machine, it was taking the money and then giving out FREE sodas, because after it took the money, it gave the money back!) Couldn't even go through customs, only security... We sat in the airport until 3:30 AM!!! People were laying all over the floor and all over the seats trying to sleep, not me! We took off at 3:50 AM!!! No sleep for me the whole way. We landed a little after 8 this morning, had to go through customs and by the time I got home it was 10:30 AM!!! We went to sleep about 11:00 AM and woke up tonight about 6 PM!! We both never slept yesterday! CRAZY!
