FH and I are trying to decide where to stay... we've heard good and bad about the Hyatt, the Radisson, the Renaissance, and the Marriott... anyone been there recently? Or have other recommendations? TIA!

Re: aruba hotels?
We stayed in the Marriot and loved it! They had the best rooms i thought and the balconys are large enough to sit out and all are waterview. The pool is great and you can choose between three of them (there are two timeshare Marriots next to the hotel that you can use their facilities).
They had the best casino i thought too and the staff was so nice.
My second choice would be the Radisson or Hyatt. Hyatt i thought was a little too expensive for what you got.
The Renissance is a lot of older couples from what i saw. I was only there one day though.

The Renaissance is really cool because it is near all the 'action' of Aruba but it has no real beach. It is on the Marina and has a private island that you have to take a boat to. I love it there, but I find if you just want to leave your room and go to the beach, then it is not the place. My parents have been staying at the Marriott since I was a kid and it is gorgeous. They have a restaurant there called Simply Fish (I think that is the name) that you can eat on the beach at sunset. I have heard great things about the Marriott as well. Aruba is so awesome.. Make sure you go on the Kukoo Kunuko (spelling) bus - It is the BEST!!!

We didn't stay at the Hyatt, but we visited the hotel a few times. It is beautiful! The lobby is outdoors with a bar and tropical birds. The pool is georgous!! I'd stay there next time in a heartbeat!

Have you been there recently? I keep reading that's it's looking rundown, but I'm not sure if that information's out of date... TIA!

Re: aruba hotels?
Hi I just came back monday night from our HM, we stayed at the Wyndham but visited the other hotels/resorts and had dinner there too- the marriot is nice but they are doing a ton of construction very noisy- they are adding a new resort so I would call to see if they will be done by your wedding date- they dont look anywhere near done, the hyatt was nice- it did look rundown and we thought too expensive for what they are offering, the Radisson was nice BUT they are doing construction at the Allegro so all you heard was sawing and drilling allday ( we stayed there 1 day and ate at the sunset grill) to me the Radisson is the one that felt more like a 'resort' and I liked that. the Wyndham allthough all inclusive was too hotel for us. we drove over to the low rise hotels and even though you have to walk across the street to go to the beach that is the area we are going to stay next! 1st reason it doesnt matter which hotel you are staying the beach is very windy yes we walked them all and hung out to see which is the least of wind and they were all the same BUT on the low rise very little to 0 wind on the beach- and trust me the sand hurts when its whipping around, gets in your ears, eyes, its a PIA. but there is nothing around the low rise- there are a lot of restaurants and shops by the high rise and the Renaissance- UGH!!!!!!! do not stay there unless you like to hear and see traffic- it is right on the main road- your view from your pool is the street traffic and if you stay across the street on the 'ocean' side- its not a real beach. we drove to baby beach a lot to lay out- NO sand storms of wind and just beautiful.
oh i forgot to add the wyndham also has all balcony rooms we had a corner suite with 2 balconys room 900 with 2 huge balconys where you can lay out and the views were facing the ocean and what a view from each side.

We are staying at the Bucuti Beach Resort, its in the low-rise section and is a lot less crowded, more secluded type place...definately different than the high rises, but just a suggestion

Re: aruba hotels?
We stayed at the Hyatt for our honeymoon and it is far from rundown. About five years ago they remodeled the whole place. It is gorgeous and we visited lots of other hotels while we there including the Radisson and the Hyatt was the best!! Very clean, best restaurants, great service!!

I have been to Aruba twice...loved it! Both times we stayed at the Radisson. The hotel is so beautiful. We love it. There are three separate towers if memory serves me right. I highly recommend the Radisson!

Re: aruba hotels?
Im not putting down the hyatt, its just that we toured the marriot, the holiday inn, playa linda, the hyatt, the radisson, the aruba grand and besides the marriot ( they are doing lots of construction right now adding another marriot beach resort) the radisson by far beat any of them by appearance, cleanliness, resort entrance and feel, very tropical, service and their restaurants were highly rec and after eating there they were absolutely right. ( we ate at the sunset grill) I didnt see the rooms but we walked through the hotels and checked out the property- they invite you to. you can walk into them from the beach and the main lobby. I didnt stay there but we def will in the future in the high rise area. I think though when they are done wth the marriot its going to be gorgeous. but its all a matter of opinion and what you look for in a resort, I stayed at the wyndham which some swear by but I wasnt thoroughly impressed. you cant go wrong in any of them.
