If you are have been to Aruba or are honeymooning there... do we need to rent a car? the whole week? a couple days? We are staying at the Marriott Surf Club, I dont know where that is in relation to things but it is not all inclusive so we are planning to go out for most meals(we have a kitchen so will buy some b-fast and lunch stuff). I dont know how great the public transportation is, i know the island is not that big. what do you think?

Re: Aruba question
We spent a week there and only rented a scooter for a day to travel the entire island ourselves, other than that we took cabs and our hotel provided buses for excursions

Re: Aruba question
Theres definitely no need to rent-a-car. You can walk to mostly anything thats along the beach and hotels. And if you want to cab it to other places like the lighthouse or into town theres always a cab waiting right outside the hotel, we rarely had to wait.

Re: Aruba question
We're going to Aruba on our HM, leaving a week from today! So far the only recommendation I've read about renting a car is that if you plan on going to the Flying Fishbone restaurant (which everyone who's ever been says you have to go) then you should rent a car that day b/c the cab ride is like $50 each way.

Re: Aruba question
We went on vacation to Aruba last year we did not rent a car any of the days we were there. Cabs are very cheap a lot of the hotels are close together and walking distance.

Re: Aruba question
Not at all. We went there in 2005 and any cab ride anywhere on the island only cost $5. It may have gone up since then but it's still cheaper then renting a car.
