I'm thinking of switching from the Marriott in Aruba to the Riu. Thoughts? I'm worried about some things I read on tripadvisor about the Marriott...not being able to find a spot on the beach/pool..having to go down at 7am to get a spot...plus, i'm thinking all inclusve might be good with us (to save money with breakfast/drinks/lunch).
Marriott is 2000 (hotel 7 nights/ flight) Riu is 3500 (hotel 7 nights/ flight/ food/drinks)
Thoughts??? Especially from people who have been there! thanks

we are probably going to go to Aruba as well but are deciding between Riu and Occidental. We stayed at the Occidental 10 years ago when it was Allegra and loved it. I like the all inclusive so u don't need to carry money with u everywhere but i have heard good and bad about every hotel ive looked into. Go with your gut. we plan on eating out at night too (safe enough to leave resort, love it there) but having breakfast and lunch covered is great. Good luck

I love the RIU although have never stayed in the one in Aruba. Looking at the pictures they look very similar to the one in Jamaica we stayed at. The service, food, drinks, entertainment was out of this world. I have no complaints. Although the rooms I will describe as 'rustic', nice just kind of old fashined.
