As if things weren't stressful enough........

My FH parents announced their divorce yesterday, after 35 years of marriage! NOW??? Before their son's wedding? I don't get it. I feel awful for my FH, he was so upset.....My FFIL wants to move away-possibly before the wedding! They may not even be speaking at that point! Now what do I do? Seat them on opposite sides of the room??? Just venting....thanks for listening

That stinks.

Dont stress over the seating situtation yet. You have some time. And out of respect for their son they will need to be civil to one another.

That's quite a shock. Hopefully they will be able to come together enough for the sake of their son's wedding and be nice to each other. I can't imagine being married for 35 years and then calling it quits!

I'm so sorry!

I would hope after being married fo 35 years that they can put away their differences for ONE night and enjoy your wedding no matter where they sit or how many pics they have to take together.

Hopefully they can act civil towards one another...for everyones sake at the wedding. Things will get better!

I agree with CaMacho. My FH parents are not 'together' but they still live together (weird..I know). His mom didn't want to walk in w/his father..but I told him..it's only right..they are his parents..and it's not like everyone doesn't know they still live together. I'll never understand that relationship..but I love them both. Good luck! :)

I think the seating is the least of your and FH's worries. Just help your FH get through this difficult time.

So sorry to hear this. People sometimes stay married unitl all the kids are grown..etc..I think that is not the best plan, but you now have to deal with it.

Thanks girls. I just can't stand seeing my FH so upset. I come from divorced parents so I am able to help him a little but this just *****. Our whole engagement has been so crazy-I needed two major surgeries right after we got engaged and now this! I hope things just start to settle down a little! I need a drink and it's only 10:45!!!!

Don't let it stress you out just yet! My FH's parents got divorced right before his older brother's wedding, and they were perfectly civil. Their timing certainly *****, but I'm sure they will behave themselves for the sake of their son.
