As long as everyone is complaining about RSVPs
I might as well add a vent.
My RSVP date was 8/25. On 8/27 I sent out emails to everyone on my list I hadn't heard from. (I have no idea how FH got in touch with his guests that didn't send in the RSVP).
One couple in particular needs mentioning. I sent an email to him, an email to her, and an email to their business address. I was polite and made a little joke of the whole thing and reminded them of the closing date for the discounted hotel rate. Because AOL lets you check to see if the email was read I did that and know that they each read their email. NO response to the email, no RSVP card in the mail. Every other person I sent an email to has responded (either both email and RSVP card or just RSVP card).
On Wednesday I picked up the phone and called her. Got voice mail and left a message that said I needed to give my hall a headcount that day (not true, but I did go to the hall and select the menu) so I needed to know if they were coming. Then I called their business and got a real live human on the phone (namely her mother, who knows exactly who I am) and I told her mother I was going to the hall that night and I needed to give a head count and to please have her call me ASAP and let me know if they were coming or not.
I still haven't heard from them. No call, no email, and no $%^@#$^ &$^*(&@$) RSVP!!
I'll add that this couple is from New York (although they moved out of state) and got married in 1999 (a wedding I attended even though I had been at my job for three weeks after graduating law school and being unemplyed for a year and I had no vacation time).
