I had a dealth in my family. About a week and a half ago my grandfather passed away unexpectantly from a blood clot (polmunary embolism). It was a complete shock and still is.
Anyway, he has been in my dreams for the last few nights. Good dreams. Dreams about him being at my wedding.
My question is...is this 'normal'? As much as the dreams are happy and good, I wish for them to stop. I wake up in the morning even more upset because the reality is, he will not be able to be at the most special day of my our life

Re: As most of you already know...
I think that is his way of telling you that he will be there. Don't wish for those dreams to go away... you'll miss them when they do stop. I really do believe that our loved ones communicate with us in our dreams or by sending little signs, and I think your grandfather is trying to tell you that he will be with you on your wedding day. We have a music box that my grandmother loved, and every now and then, it starts playing without being wound, and we think of it as my grandmother reminding us she's there. We get teary eyed, but we love when it happens. It's very special.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this now...

Re: As most of you already know...
completely normal. i dream about my grandparents and my friend who passed away when he was 20 ALL the time.
i love the dreams b/c they are good but i get so upset when i wake up and realize it was just a dream and also, that the dream is over.
i'm so sorry to hear about your loss and i know there is nothing in the world that i can actually write or say that will make you feel any less pain or emptiness (i know so much because i have been there myself) but i do hope that you are able to get through your wedding day and be at peace with the fact that he is there in spirit but unfortunately not in physical form.
i know it's not the same and it's no where near enough or what you really want-- he's coming through to you in your dreams so i hope you find some comfort in knowing he's with you.
i'm so sorry again

Yeah, it's normal. My grandma died 10 months before my wedding and I would dream about her being there too.

It's completely normal. My Mom has been gone almost 5 years and every once in a while I still have dreams about her. Soon after she passed I had them almost every night. At first I was sad, but soon looked forward to seeing her every night in my dreams.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I didn't know. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Just know that he is there in spirit watching over your beautiful day. Maybe you could carry something of his under your dress to make you feel closer to him?

Yes, it's very normal. To have them and to want them to go away. It's painful to wake up every morning knowing that your grandfather isn't here with you but only with you in your dreams. I think this is his way of letting you know that he will be there on your wedding day.
I know right now you wish they would stop, but I think in the long run, you'll be happy to have them. JMO.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss though!

So normal - and although they are painful - consider yourself fortunate to have these dreams - they dont happen to everyone...
aftre my cousin died, I dreamt about him - I'm doing the cystic fibrosis walk in May, and in my dream he told me he'll be walking with me (he died from CF)
I woke up crying, but I was so grateful for the dream!

My grandmother died about 6 years ago and I still to this day have dreams about her being here with us. I am positive that your grandfather is with you every minute of the day and is reminding you that while although he wont be physically at your wedding, he is there in spirit.

I agree, you are lucky to get these dreams. When my brother passed away, I had 2 dreams about him. I wish I had more, because I feel like he is really there watching over us. Just think of it that way, he is with you.

I totally agree. It's his way of telling you he will be there in spirit because he can't in body. I'm so sorry you are going through this!

i think it's totally normal..they will pass in time. sorry again for your loss.
i had a similar experience after my great-grandmother died as a month later my daughter was born....she had a musical crib toy that you can turn off or leaveon...and the baby makes it play, i would turn it off b/c it kept going off at night waking her up.....and that's when i realized it wasn't her kicking it or anything...it was my great-grandparents (they loved music as much as i do) and it would always play 'Fur Elise' my favorite everytime it went off...i just took it as a sign that they were looking out for her. now i'm crying just thinking about it...must go dry my eyes.

Re: As most of you already know...
I just have to say something so sweet...
my little Godson, Jordan, always called himself 'Dia'. He would see pictures of himself and say 'DIA!!'. Then he would see a picture of an angel and say 'DIA!!'. We always looked at each other amazed. It pretty much sealed our idea that he was an angel before he was born. As he grew up a little (he's now almost three), he lost all memory of the 'dia' thing, and is now 'Jordan.'. I just thought it was amazing, and wanted to share. There is definitely more out there than meets the eye... we just have to recognize it. Great... now I have to go dry MY eyes! lol

Sorry for your loss...i think its normal you dream about him, his death was sudden and it leaves family and friends around with questions I think this is his way of letting you know he's alright and watching over you.

Thank you! I really believe there is so much more out there, and our loved ones are still with us. I just really think that as painful as your dreams might be now because you miss your grandfather, embrace them. Recognize them as your grandfather reaching out to you. Maybe even write a journal about your dreams of him when you wake up, just in case they get less frequent one day. That way, you can look back in your journal when you miss them. And when you wake up after a dream of him, just tell your grandfather you love him and be happy knowing he's still with you.
