Frenasia on Crossbay Blvd in Howard Beach. It just opened a little while ago, and I haven't been there yet but I've heard great things. Also on Crossbay Blvd there's Danny's Szechuan and Danny's Saura Garden (same building with a chinese restaraunt and a japanese restaruant. It's very good

Expensive: Blue Water Grill - asian fusion, seafood around the Union Square are - reservations a must.
Asia de Cuba - Asian/Latin fusion, Midtown east, reservations a must
Moderate/reasonable PEEP - Thai food, SOHO, very downtown hip, good drinks, party vibe and good food
Sushiya - 56th off of 5th ave. good sushi nice atmosphere, bigger space.
Hasaki restaurant - east village, sushi very good, authentic, less fancy rolls, smaller portion, but fresh sushi. The restaurant is small and intimate-210 E. 9th Street.

joe's shanghai in chinatown or uptown. once you sit down ask for soup dumplings. they're amazing! it comes in 2 kinds. crab and pork. i like the crab dumplings. very good.
NYO NYA (malaysian) in chinatown grand street (off mulberry). start with roti conai as apps and hoinam chicken.. it's a very light dish. or if you dare to choose out of the norm choose surong burong. dont worry..it's neither a cat or dog. it's illegal here =P and get an iced lychee / longon drink. you'll love it!
woo lae oak (korean) in the vill on mercer. try KEL SAL MARI as your apps. and everything to anything from their menu's pretty good. woo lae oak
kum gang sang (korean) in koreatown 32nd street off broadway. anything from their menu's pretty good.
the pricing's reasonable with the acception to woo lae oak. but it doesn't mean you should skip this restaurant in the future. and hmmm.. what else...? Blue Ribbon Sushi's VERY GOOD! pricey, tho, yes, but if you're a sushi lover.. please try.
enjoy your dinner!

Re: Asian fusion/japanese/thai restaurants?
Asia de Cuba and Tao are great for a more pricey night out. Personally, and I know that it's a complete tourist trap, but I really love the food at Ruby Foo's in Times Square, especially the calamari in peanut sauce. Yum!
