asking bridesmaids - do i have to be creative?

asking bridesmaids - do i have to be creative?

I feel pressured to be very creative about this, but I'm wondering if it's OK to go with a simple personalized card. I ordered super cute cards from Etsy and I wrote a really meaningful note in each.

When I was asked to be in my best friend's wedding, she asked me in person and I felt so honored I didn't even think about expecting to receive a gift (I didn't).

Opinions?

I think that is TOTALLY OK!! I wasn't super creative either, I found these personalized cookies that had a dress on it, their title(BM or MOH) and had a really cute saying. I thought that was enough. To each their own, go with what you feel is gonna mean the most!

I think that's perfect! I feel like there's so much added pressure on brides now with Pinterest and Etsy...I'm literally racking my brain half the time on how to be creative with stupid things, like table numbers. Driving myself bananas!

Go with the simplicity...I'd rather receive a heartfelt note than a gift.

LOL You don't have to do anything crazy. One of the my friends called and simply said 'I hope you look good in light blue' and my best friend just came over and said will you be a bridesmaid in my wedding. I made boxes for my girls but to each her own!

SO TRUE - everything I see on Pinterest is super involved and honestly, I feel like I'd rather spend my energy elsewhere.

I think heartfelt is the way to go - and, knowing my BMs, they will appreciate that way more!

I only did cute cards I found on Etsy. I didn't go nuts with asking because I was way too excited!

I asked 3 of my 4 bridesmaids over Skype, since they are not in NY. And the 4th is FH's sister, so we just asked her in person. They were all honored and glad that we want them to be in the bridal party, and no one expected a gift..

I got personalized cards for each of my girls and that was it. I'm getting them gifts for being in my bridal party and I plan on being generous with that. To go above that is cute and sweet, but it's TOTALLY okay to just do a card!

No. I wasn't creative. I didn't know it was a new thing.
