Asking People to be Part of Your Wedding Party

Did any of you do anything special or gave something when asking people to be part of your wedding party?

My engagement party is next week and I'm trying to figure out what to give them?

I got these little sachets - http://www.weddingthings.com/product/bridesmaid_dress_sachets/bridesmaids_gifts - for three of my bridesmaids and they came with 'Will you be my Bridesmaid' cards. For another bridesmaid, I'm giving her a shirt that says, 'Back off bitches, the bouquet is mine!' http://www.cafepress.com/bridegifts.60803807

My maid of honor lives in California, and I haven't thought of anything special for her yet.

The flower girls and ring bearers are getting these little books I found about being in a wedding.

For one bridesmaid, I had inserted scrapbook paper and printed her name and the poem below into a BRIDES magazine. Then, I asked her if she wanted to looked through the magazine for wedding gowns with me. When she turned to the page, her mouth dropped. She started crying. :)

Nothing would gives us
more joy and more pride
Than to have you there
Walking by our side
Will you be in our wedding party?

At my engagement party, I asked my FSIL (who is also getting married in a few weeks). Her FH (my brother) is going to be in the party as well. So, we framed a similar poem to the above one and told them that we had a present for them b/c we figured they were under a lot of stress with the wedding lately. They were very surprised and touched. :)

Then, I asked my FH's sister. She is 8 months pregnant, so I got her a cheap photo album (8 pages for photos- 1.50 in Michaels). I wrote a poem specifically for her and put a line on each page. She was so touched and couldn't believe how sneaky I was about how I asked her, hehe. :)

In just a few short months your new baby boy will change your whole life.
And in one quick year, your brother will say 'I do!' to his brand new wife.
Your new baby boy will require much love and good care…
Most times, you will realize you don’t have a moment to spare!
But even though this new baby will leave you with no time for play…
We really do hope that you can stand by us on our wedding day.
Gabriella, will you be in our wedding party?

Lastly, I asked my two cousins (sisters) together. I did the same thing as I did for the first bridesmad, but asked them if they wanted to see a picture of my dress. So they were all excited! I turned to the page before and said, 'What do you think of this dress?' So they were like, 'Oh, it's so pretty!' Then, I turned to the next page (One poem on each side) and said...'Or how about this one?' They started yelling, 'Of course, of course!!!'

Definitely personalize the way you ask each one. These women are going to be in your wedding party, so they are obviously the most important women in your life. Show them just how special they are to you.

I used these. I thought they were cute. I did not love the writing and would have preferred a card attached but I am sure the girls will like them. They send them individually to each girl in the mail. I just ordered them... i'll let you know what the girls say.

I bought them each a big thing of chocolate from hersheys.com
and had hershey's write 'BRIDESMAID' on it

and gave them out.
it was like the one below ...it was a giant slab of chocolate and then had hersheys miniatures' around it.

It was a toss up between and the big cookies from Mrs. Fields to write on as well

Candy won since we picked Halloween

all the girls loved it! Even their families that helped them eat it! haha

Thanks. It's so nice that you put so much thought into each one of them. That's sweet

I made cards and wrote each girl a poem about different events over the course of our friendships

i'm not having one, but i was recently in a good friend's... she sent us all a bouquet of flowers (different types to each girl- i got tulips, others got pink roses, daffodils etc) and in the card asked us to be in her bridal party... i loved it, and i was so surprised!!!
