Assigned Seating?

Assigned Seating?

This is a spinoff to an earlier post I made. I didn't realize that most people don't expect to have assigned seating at weddings. I haven't been to that many weddings I thought when people talked about 'table assignments', they meant who is sitting at what table and where at that table they were sitting.

So, I was wondering if any of you are actually having assigned seating? Or are you just telling people what table they're at and letting them pick their seat from there?

I've never been to a wedding where I was assigned a seat - only a table.

I've never been to a wedding where there was assigned seating at the tables. I'm sure that people would just switch cards to sit next to people they wanted to anyway!

Although I have been to a wedding where tables weren't even assigned (except family). My mother and I were included in the family pictures even though we weren't family so we missed the cocktail hour. It took us 10 minutes to find a place to sit. This was a mess.

No assigned seats but I would do it for parents. They are usually one of the last ones in and sometimes get the worst seats (back to the dance floor) at the table. I'm planning on reserving seats for our parents and bridal party at the table. Also my Dad is handicapped and needs to be closest to the dance floor.

We will have three handcapped people at our wedding (walk with canes) so I want to have two small tables at the cocktail hour reserved for them as well. Just something to think about if you have elederly guests.

That's a really great suggestion. I'm hoping that we won't have any problems since we're doing pics (including family pics) before the ceremony. But, just in case, how are you going about reserving them? Are you putting something on the plates or the chairs? Thanks!

I am planning on putting a flower garland across our parents chairs, or somthing to that effect!

I dont think it is necessary to tell them where to sit ...as long as their table is set thats enough work

Just table assignments, not seats.

I do like the idea of saving actual seats for my parents though.

I'm doing assigned seating b/c I saw place cards settings that I really wanted to use at the wedding. But I won't be upset if people move around their seats at the table, I wanted it more for decoration than anything
